Who prefers these to barbell rows? I usually do everything w/free weights, but I did these today instead of bar rows and my back is blitzed. Probably because I cheat too much on barbell rows.

low rows or high rows?

Yeah I used to do those all the time. They are pretty good but I am trying to concentrate on bar rows these days.

My advice is to get back "on the platform" and rock out some bent over barbell rows. Learn to dicipline yourself to complete full, strict reps. :)

Use machines for attacking weak points in specicific and/or rehabilitation work. One mans word.

Hammer Strength rows(low and high) are awesome. I actually prefer these to barbell rows, I feel that I have a much better mind to muscle link on these movements. This improved concentration allows for better contractions which translates into better results in my opinion.

I've just started using the low row one and I finally get sore where I am supposed to. I lose focus when doing regular barbell rows or my arms fail before my back muscles really start getting thrown in.
