Rehabbing shoulder/rebuilding muscle while cutting?

I hurt my shoulder several months ago, and have started the recovery process. Between the shoulder injury and travelling abroad, I've lost a decent amount of upper-body muscle. I was wondering if it's possible to continue cutting, while rehabbing my shoulder and hopefully regaining some muscle on my chest and back. I know making new muscle gains is extremely difficult while cutting, but is this different since I'm just rebuilding old muscle? Would it help to have a bulking diet twice a week on upper body days, and then cut the other 5 days? Thanks for any help.

Bringing your shoulder back into full function and doing a cutting routine, I think, would go well together. You can be doing some higher reps with fewer working sets for shoulders, and any chest or triceps exercises that impact the area you are rehabbing. This, combined with a cutting diet will lead to greater definition. Adding muscle to your chest and back at the same time could prove tricky, but isn't impossible. On these body parts, you would seek out exercises that let you hit heavy weights without irritating the part of your shoulder you hurt. Protein consumption for building tends to be in the 1.5 to 2 grams per pound of body weight, which is gonna ratchet up your calories, slowing your cutting process. You may want to take this in 2 parts. Full rehab while getting your diet in order, and then come up with a clear workout and bulking diet to make some gains.
