recovering from alcohol

sconoscuito

Banned
special occasion this weekend and even though I stopped drinking for about 4-5 weeks now I couldnt do it this weekend so on friday and saturday I had about 20 bottles of beer(lite)

so today I went to work out and tried to sweat it out so I could be ready for tommorows basketball practice

any suggestion how to recover better, cause i felt like shit all day todya especially when I tried to work out.

consider it your carb loading day:)... hangovers are in large part due to dehydration. even hard stuff dehydrates you. one time i had way too much to drink and ended up in the hospital (this is after jail btw ;) ) and they put 2 bags of iv fluid in me, i weighed was 5'11 and 157lbs really small then, im told 2 is a huge amount to replace even for somone bigger then i was. i had alcohol poisioning but at least i wasnt dehydrated. :) .....point of my long story, understand alcohol is a poison and that your body needs to be hydrated with "quality liquid" during and after you drink. also moderation is key for not feeling like shit after, maybe cut back a little. a friend of mine used to swear by drinking 2 bottles of water just before he went to sleepfor the night...never had a hang over the next morn.

yea thats what I thought too u kno a carb up day.

anyways its not the type of a hangover where your head hurts etc.. its just that u feel fat and lazy thats all....

another thing.. saturday morning this is after drinkin like 7 beers the previus night and dehydrated I weighted 217

go to visit my friend to college and drink like 12-14 beers plus some pizza etc and today when I came home I was 226lbs

meassured on the same scale in the same gym

im sure its just water but thats quite some diffrence u know, i think thats what made me feel like shit.

man still have a terrible heartburn right now..from eating pretty much a whole large peperoni pizza after drinking at like 230 am...
(its a tradition, but everyone passed out so i had to eat the whole thing)

gotta have days like that though otherwise lifes no fun.

A good recepy to recover from alcohol :

Strong black coffee
+aspirin
+ plenty of water

i was always told coffe just made you a perky drunk. and asprin may be bad as it thins your blood even more then the booze. maybe stick to a good vodka or something, ive been told the purer the alcohol is the easier it is on your body....look for a triple filtered vodka (dont worry they arent very $$)

Like what was said above, hangovers are due to dehydration and lack of nutrients. Alcohol seems to rob your body of nutrients. So the idea is to re-plenish them before hand. Here is a good anti-hangover remedy that I've created and that many people I know are now using. It's not to hard to follow but some people feel really lazy and say "uh, if I'm drinking I don't want to do all that stuff, and don't want to remember to do that" My usual response is "suit yourself". If you don't want the hangover, then it is going to take some effort on your part to avoid getting it. Anyway here is my remedy that seems to work fairly well for most.

Before start drinking:
16oz of Gatorade
1 Multivitamin
1 Vitamin C 1000mg
2 Cranberry Pills (usually 475mg/pill)
2 Milk Thistle Pills (usually 375mg/pill)

HAVE FUN!!!!

After drinking, when you get home:
20oz of Gatorade
16oz of Water
1 Vitamin C 1000mg
2 Cranberry Pills
2 Milk Thistle Pills

This is not too difficult to follow. When I'm drunk I can fully remember to do this routine. If it's too much effort, then it's just plain laziness. But it's all in how you want to feel the next morning. But, give that remedy a shot and see how it works for you :)

got it down to a science..i had enough time remembering "beer before liquer and you have never been sicker...liquor before beer and your all in the clear ;)

i wouldnt do the gatorade thing... too many sugars while intoxicated.... youre just asking to store fat.

my hangover help is LOTS of water, multivitamin, some type of pain killer.... then lots of sleep.... if youre hungry... hit up some nuts or beef jerky....

Thats funny. You think its a good idea to take a pain killer with 10+ beers, but its a bad idea to drink gatorade? I think theres 2 aspects you have to look at. Yeah a gatorade may store fat but a pain killer with that much alcohol could seriously fuck you up physically. I have aways drank a shit load of water before bed, usually like a gallon or so, and I very rarely ever got a hang over. Now there times where one just gets out of control and drinks like 10 bears +10 shots, and I am not sure anything would ever help this other then time. I would like to try taking a multivitamin and cranberry and milk thisle because I do think that may be very beneficial for days when hang overs seem to last forever.

THAT'S RIGHT dr0832 :) In response to proteinfiend's post above, 36oz of gatorade is not going to make you blow up into a fat balloon. If your drinking everyday chances are your storing a lot of fat anyway. But 36oz of gatorade a weekend to help prevent a hangover is well worth it. If it's fat you don't want, I would be more concerned about the consumption of beer.
