hey everyone.. i read the forums everyday and appreciate everyones input. i usually just read and dont post but i have a few questions and i would appreaciate any advice.

18 yrs. old
6'5'' 240 - cutting (was 310 in december)
im a former football player but lost most muscle due to the rapid weight loss so im not very lean. i consist mostly of the fat thats left

#1 - is it worth it to train abs even if theres no shot at seeing any results (due to fat midsection)

#2 - how important is sleep in a diet? because work and school leaves me with inconsistant sleep.. some nights i'll get 9 hours and some 4 hours. i dont go to sleep every night (due to girlfriend) until about 2:30am.. this leads me to binge eating late nights not even 10 minutes before sleep.

#3 - being 6'5'' 240, online body mass index (BMI) calculators say that i should be at about 204 lbs. to be considered "normal weight".. is 204 at my height too skinny or can i still be lean (goal: 6pack)? are these online BMI calcs even worth a damn?

#4 - both me and my brother have bitch tits (heredity).. i hate them and they are my pet peev.. will these go away with dieting or will i need to take some form of an estrogen blocker or even surgery on down the road?

Thanks in advance!

1.) I would. Is there any reason to train your chest if there is no chance in seeing the definition for a while? Of course, a lot of core lifts will work your abs anyway, but if you want to throw in 2x8 of weighted crunches it will help target them for growth.

2.) sleep is extremely important..I think 8-10 hours is the recommended amount. sleep deprivation can definitely slow down your progress as your body needs that time to recover. i know there have been many studies done to show the importance of sleep in conjunction with weight loss..

3.)bmi is worthless. get your bodyfat tested if you want to go by any measurements at all. your weight is not even important, its all about LBM. if you could be your height at 300lbs and say..8% bodyfat.. a bmi would read that you are obese.

bodyfat measurements are the best way to monitor progress, imo.

4.)lol..chances are they will go away as you lose bodyfat and stop retaining so much water..

it is probably not an estrogen issue unless you have reason to suspect such..

The key to losing this bodyfat is a good clean diet mixed with some cardio and weight training. Focus hardcore on the diet, train hard, and watch that shit fall off my man

good replys...

cardio is your friend... sleep is your friend, eat clean--wholesome foods... no bagged shit... fresh fresh...and again... cardio is your friend

my cardio routine:
mon - 15 mins intervels (?) jog 1 min @ 6....sprint 45 seconds @ 9 -->repeat
wed - same
fri - same
sat - sometimes ill bike on this day 30 mins or so

and also these cardio sessions are at my house separate from working out and after each cardio session ill do some ab exercises 3x20 (reg crunch and side crunches) along with some deep streching...

on monday and friday ill do NeedSize abs with a 35lb plate (5x5 on this)--hanging oblique crunches--and leg raises

get at it!
