question re late night training

Ok say you train at night

You finish training at 9 and immediately hit a PW shake down

Right about 45 minutes later to an hour u need to eat some more food right?

but an hour after that u need to sleep

Do you eat? If so what do you eat?
Your training is pretty intense and recovery is important but u don't want to gain fat

What do u think would be good food at that point?

Here is what I would do...although some may disagree...I would put maltodextrin and dextrose in my PW shake so that I can replenish the glucose that I used during the workout. Then my dinner would be mostly protein, and casein protein at that, so that I can sleep better (without the carbs) and have a longer lasting protein to help me while I sleep. I would probably eat about 4 ounces of chicken, and then a cup of cottage cheese. The portion is not to big to cause uneasy sleep, but will be enough protein to help you rebuild, and get you through the night.

I actually followed a schedule like this - and it didn't hurt my progress at all. I had my p/w shake (60g dex, 30g whey) - and then an hour later I had a regular meal (2/3 cup oatbran and chicken breast). If I woke up hungry I'd have some natty PB and go back to bed.

In the long run, the biggest factor was total daily calories (for me).

That is pretty much my schedule right now and I have a post WO whey shake, then 45 mins to 1 hour later I have a chicken breast and ANPB or a hand full of nuts or a casein prot. shake. About 10 - 15mins later, hit the hay.

Yeah sounds like what i do sometimes

oatbran is mostly fiber and has a low gi right?

I goto the gym at night also, and get done around 9:00 pm.

I drink my whey shake right after, and then about 40 minutes later i eat some low gi carbs (about 20-25g) - then about 30 minutes after that i eat some eggs and turkey.
