Protein Intake for Babies

Yeah I'm serious :D

For dinner most nights I give my 9 month old son a mashed banana or cooked, semi-mashed sweet potato. Is there any reason I couldn't add 1 tsp of super plasma protein mixed in with his food?

Looking at the labels on his formula which is Natures Best Organic infant formula, the first ingredient is mineral reduced whey. My thought is Protein Factory's Super Plasma Protein is probably a better quality protein. One teaspoon should mix pretty easily.

Also, what should the protein intake for infants be around? they are growing so fast, and their formula and food doesn't have much in it.

Babies intake of protein is the same as a any normal person ( not talking about bodybuilders ) 1gr per kilo but it's much more important for a child to get this much prot cause it uses it to build brain, general size and other important organs. I was told that whey prot it's a never for a baby but the super plasma stuff you talk about i don't know it so i can't say.

There was no way I was giving my sone that disgusting baby food. The meat in sauce garbage, ect..
The vegtables are good and the fruit is fine but the other shit ewww...
So at 4 mos my doc said to take boiled chicken breast and put it in the food processor and then mix it with a vegtable. Thats all he ate from then on. He's 8 now and is alot taller and alot more developed and has alot more musculature than all the kids in his class.
Something can definatley be said for getting them started early. But definatley not overdoing it.

I cannot fathom how people can feed there children spam and hot dogs and ramen noodles and box mac n cheese. Yuck. My son looks at that food along with fast food and just goes ewwww.

I wouldn't give my baby sports supplements. They're unregulated and no one knows the long term effects in infants, because they're not deisnged for them - infants have different nutritional requirements to adults.
The more isocaloric the babies diet the better - like milk.
Look at the nutritional breakdown of the formula I doubt the protein will be higher than the fat/carb content, and the total quantity of whey is probably insignificant. Too much protein at such a young age will just put excess strain on their kidneys.
And let's not forget the effects of too much whey once ingested. It's absorbed rapidly and can raise insulin levels quite significantly. I personally wouldn't mess with that stuff.

Didn't they recently find processed meats to be one of the primary causes of bowel cancers?
I can't beleive people would still risk eating that stuff.

I'm with you, food is the way to go, and his formula has only been organic once my wife stopped breast feeding a month ago. The food jars we use are also organic and the ingredient list is like, chicken, green beans, and water...thats it so i don't mind that. The idea hit me the other night when I mashed a banana and though, damn he's getting no protein. I thought 1teaspoon or even a half teaspoon mixed with the banana might be ok. 1tsp of super plasma protein is 5g of protein which is about the same as one scoop of his formula, and his 8oz bottle has 4 scoops.

The super plasma protein is such a fine powder coming from protein factory, its like a powdered sugar type powder as far as granular size so it should mix easily.

To Alpha Male - I'm only talking protein here, not sport supplements. I would never give any sport supplements to such a young child. This is plain protein, nothing else, no flavor, nothing. Protein factory super plasma protein is just plain straight refined protein that you would add to other powders or drinks. If you look at the nutrition listing, its one ingredient, super plasma protein, thats it nothing else

talk to your kids doctor about feeding him a healthy diet. they are not the same as us and most of us eat far from healthy myself included.

Little ones can have a bad gut reaction to adult level powered supplements. My youngest grandson had a hell of a time for his first two years with food.

However, he could take liquid Ensure 2-3 times a day. He is 5 now and all muscle. Eats meat and a balanced diet and hates Ensure. LOL
