Post workout shake question

Hi all,

Got a quick question on the post work out shake. I normally just drink my entire shake in one go but a friend of mine told me that I should rather drink it over a longer period instead of all at once. He said he read somewhere(no idea where he got it from) that 90% of your post work shake nutirents is lost if consumed all at once and it is better to sip on the shake over a longer period of time. Is this total rubbish or is there some truth in it? Sorry I don't have information about where he got this theory from.

thanks

I call bullshit on the nutrients being "lost" If you drink it, it's there.

The idea of drinking it in sips, is to avoid a LARGE insulin spike, with the corresponding drop that always follows (and "The Wall").

The basic guideline is: Drink half it inmediately after your Work out, drink the other half over a 25-30 mins period (sipping it).

This is for a 1 liter shake, give or take.

Many people (myself included) drink the pwo shake specifically to spike insulin levels and get the body in an anabolic state asap. I therefore chug the shake.

If I'm bulking, I'll snack on carbs until my next meal to keep the blood sugar and insulin up. If cutting I don't.

Definitely BS on lost nutrients.

Is it wrong for me to have a few sips pre-workout, sip on it will while working out and then chug the rest after?

I have a preworkout shake. 25gprotein/25g malto. Post workout is 50gprotein/25g malto.

The preworkout gives me some stamina, ask around we have a log on it as well.

Yeah I am one of the Pre WO Shake people too. It DOES give me a noticeable increase in strength.

I have also been trying out a During WO Shake, where instead of drinking my shake PWO, I sip half throughout my workout, and then slam the rest (usually 1/3-1/4 left) when I am done.

As far as nutrients and insulin spikes, I have no idea...

hey mm107 and vin01, got a question about your pre workout shakes. When do you normal have them, 1 hour before workout or 30 minutes before workout or a few minutes? I have never tried a preworkout shake so I would like to know the best time of a preworkout shake.
thanks
