Hey everyone this is my first thread on these boards:

19yr. old male
155 lbs.
5%bf on one test(scale), 3% on another(scale), 4% according to skinfold
Goals: 180 lbs.

I am very very lean but and defined but if i wear a long sleeve shirt you wouldn't even be able to tell that I work out

My diet is so clean it makes even me sick sometimes and I cannot get myself to add calories or anything as hard as I have tried.

My question is do you think I have an eating disorder because I know that to grow I need calories but I am literally scvared to lose any definition. It's a mental block and I cant seem to get past it. Any advice would be much appreciated

4% bf is basically essential bodyfat (intracell and intramuscle).

There is no way around it: You want to get big, some fat will be gained, but if you are a naturally lean person, it will be minimal... for true ectos, it just takes them to eat at maintenance level to start loosing weight... so think you will be able to be very lean with no major effort.

Eat, eat, eat and then eat some more...

Thanks for the replies everyone keep em' coming. Everyone I ask gives me a different amount of calories needed for growth...in fact i've hard everything from 2,500-4,500. How is a guy supposed to figure out how much to eat? Is it just trial and error and figuring it out for myself? Would you suggest eating all clean calories of throwing in some dirty foods that also contain protein and good carbs such as pizza? As far as training goes everyone has been telling me only to work out 3 times a week to avoid overtraining and to do no cardio but that can't be good for the overall health of my heart/body.

About 3 months ago I had similar stats to you and was also afraid to lose my definition. Since then I have gained about 6kg of LBM, can still see my abds and am just about as defined as I was when I started.

Up your calories, train hard, keep eating clean foods and do cardio once or twice a week l ike I have been doing. This way, you will gain a minimal amount of fat.

Also measuing your weight and BF every week or two is a good way to track your progress to see whether you need to adjust your calories.

Hey guys thanks for the awesome responses...it's nice to come to a board for once and not have the regulars treat the newer members like crap

Basically I'm repeating what the others have said - EAT and workout like crazy. You need to experiment with what size meals and when and also how to train - 2 body parts a day, 1 body part a day, 3 day split.....etc. Once you find out what works for you, you'll be able to see the best gains. Good luck and keep working - you can reach your goals. I started at 205# and abou5 25% bf to 185# and about 15%bf and now about 225# and 17% bf in the last 3 years. You can do this!

That is amazing progress bro.

I recently took a week off because I'm an intern at DisneyWorld and spring break means 14 hr. work days and my body just couldn't take the extra stress. I also think it was about time to take a week off anyway. Now I'm starting fresh again and I'm switching to lifting every other day as opposed to 3 days on/1 day off. I hope this will help me with recovery and finally get me a little muscle growth damnit! I am also starting to make concerted effort to get as much sleep as possible, which is very difficult living in a condo with 7 other guys surrounded by college girls and whatnot. Just writing all these things down will help me stick to them as I can check back to this thread and get re-inspired to build up my body. So anything else you guys post will be a constant help to me and I appreciate what you all will say in advance. It's time to get down to business and get HUGE!!!

Posting in the board does form an accountability feeling (all this people looking)... so it does helpo a great deal to have some support here. Keep up working or we will kick your sorry ass back to Orlando!!!

You’re on the right track with the advice given. The thing to keep in mind is that this takes time. I am a huge Endo. I gain mass very, very easily. I have to work hard as hell to drop weight.
I have had to do exactly what you are doing in order to get my body to stabilize and shed the weight. My point is this. It's all about the diet. Even though I may need to take in fewer calories and less carb/fat content I still must keep my foods clean and protein high.

You must do the same just as everyone has said. You must eat even when you are not hungry, all of us who have ever taken this stuff seriously go through this. You must eat consistently and you must train consistently. Listen to your body. Take the breaks when you need them but when you are in the gym realize that you are there for a reason. No excuses, no chit-chat, no friends. It is simply you the iron and the driving will to get huge and kill anything in the way. It's that simple.

If you want this you will make it happen. Commit to your diet, commit to your training, and commit to your life. What you are looking for is a life change my friend. Not a diet but a way of life. The gains might come a bit more slowly for you. Who the hell cares as long as they come. Stay smart in your approach and learn as much as you can from those around you. You would be surprised how much they old timers at the gym know. To the rest of the "wanna be's" take'em to the wood shed. They do not count. This sport is all about you! Plain and simple. You have to be selfish with yourself and do whatever it takes to define yourself as you would like to be.

It is hard ass work. I speak from experience. I have come a long, long way and have a lot further to go. This process is about the journey not the destination! Love it and it will love you back.

Godd luck buddy.
