Oatmeal Protein Cookies

I would like to try this. Do you have to cook the oatmeal first or are you just using them raw? Also do you just mix all the ingredients above together? Like with the egg whites, do you have to chop them up?? Sorry I am a little confused. Thanks

They don't have to be cooked. Just combine all ingredients together spoon into cookies and toss them in the oven.

Anyone else try these yet? They tasted better with the chocolate whey than the vanilla for some reason.

These cookies sound great, im going to make some this weekend. Then Im going to eat them at school between classes. Thanks for the recipes, I post back what I think of them.

The girl that manages our gym got this one somewhere online and made them last week. Tasted really good.

Ingredients

1 3/4 cups oatmeal
4 scoops chocolate or vanilla whey powder
6 egg whites
2 tsp brown sugar substitute (splenda)
1/2 cup un-sweetened apple sauce
1 tsp vanilla extract
2-3 shakes of cinnamon
1 tsp olive oil
1 tsp maple extract
1/2 cup raisins (optional)

Directions

Pre-heat oven to 325, spoon into 12 cookies as you would for regular cookies, bake for 20 minutes. 15 grams of protein per cookie.
Do i need to put anything on the baking tray to stop the cookies sticking to it?

Plugged it into fitday..and I got these macros..(with the raisins)

Total: 1330
Fat: 18 161 12%
Sat: 4 39 3%
Poly: 4 34 3%
Mono: 6 55 4%
Carbs: 184 651 48%
Fiber: 22 0 0%
Protein: 130 520 39%
Alcohol: 1 10 1%

breaks down to about

133 cal 1.5gfat 15.33gc 11g protein per cookie..
This means that they are healthy right?

Another question, this is just regarding oatmeal in general:

Is it safe to eat raw oats? I know for this cookie recipie it states you use them raw but they get cooked in the oven anyway.

What I mean is, say in the mornings I'm in a big rush and instead of making a bowl of hot oatmeal, can I just put raw oats into my protein shake, just blend it up and drink it? I honestly don't like hot foods in general for breakfast. I'd rather take a few scoops of my quaker 5 minute oats and just throw it in quick with my drink? Is this safe or do oats have to be heated up to remove bacteria/whatever. Thanks!

Beat me too it. For some reason when I used the chocolate whey it tasted better. But the vanilla I used was ultimate nutrition prostar which is known to be pretty bad. Either way they taste great. You can use some sugar free maple syrup in their as well if you don't have the maple extract.

How much maple syrup would you use instead of the tsp of maple extract?

Thanks

Re Cooking Proteins: I doubt the cooked protein will have that much of a negative effect on muscle growth. This is mostly for a snack. Chicken and beef are all cooked protein sources, so I'd say not to worry.

Re the tray: You could spray on some pam on the bottom of the tray.

Raw oats are fine. If I'm late for work I'll pour some in a bowl with cold water and inhale it down as fast as I can. (Doesn't taste bad really. LOL)

Not sure about how much maple syrup. If anything use the fat free/sugar fee kind and add some last, mix and taste until it tastes good.
