My girlfriend needs your help getting off...

sorry...just wanted to get your attention :(

She was doing machine bicep curls (the Cybex machine where you can alternate arms) and her right arm is always weaker than the other. So, in order to get her last few reps with her right arm she, mistakenly, would sort of cheat the motion...you know what I mean, sort of jerk her body to get the weight up.

No pain immediately after she did all her sets. However, when she woke up the next morning she did not have full range of motion in her bicep. The pain of it is not anything more than being really sore (not really more than her other bicep), but she just cannot fully extend her arm...she walks around with it partially curled all day long...sort of looks funny. Its wierd, it not that it is too painful to extend all the way, she just can't do it. As soon as I knew about it I had her taking Aleve and icing it...

Its three days afterwards and she still cannot extend it...last night, I massaged it with some Icy-Hot and got it to where she could extend it, but that was short lived..this morning its back to where it was...

Whats her next move? The Doctor is not an option till Monday...
Could it just be really sore? Or does it sound like she tore something?

Thanks in advance to anyone who gives their input...Karma for good answers (I'm a little Karma whore)

Thanks...

JJ

i doubt she tore something, because she would be in a lot alot of pain just my opinion especially if she extended it, usually woking a new muscle out that she never worked on before leaves it be sore for close to a week especially if she doesnt have a high threshold for pain. give it a ocuple of more days

I'm going to take a stab in the dark with this one.

Personally, I know exactly how she feels, but I've never had my arm bent in such way for a period of time.

I've went to the doc about the pain and he told me to keep off of it for a week, apply ice and take pain killers if necessary.

I'm not sure about about the 'curled' part

Sounds like a torn muscle to me. If I were you I would get her some Naproxen. I tore a trap muscle 2 months ago and it never really healed. It would always hurt while I was driving. I started taking Naproxen and now its all better. Try ice for 3 minutes and heat for 3 minutes. My dad is a college coach and whenever his players pull something like that they use heat and ice.

This is sort of what I was thinking, since she is normally a real whuss when it comes to pain...

its just the complete inability to extend it that worres me.

She could have a bit of tendonitis/bursitis in her bicep tendon. Alternating ice & heat was a good suggestion. Naprosen can work too. She probably will need to go to the doctor if it doesn't improve in the next week or so. If it continues you might check into getting an MRI done just to be sure that you know what it is that she's dealing with.

Just trying to be funny dude... my bad, didn't mean to waste so much of your time... though, choosing to respond to this thread seems like an even bigger waste of time, as what you have to say means exactly NOTHING to me.

You sound like one of those guys whose still angry because he had too many zits in high school and not enough friends.
