I am sure by now everyone has heard of minimalist footwear either five finger shoes or any of the minimalist shoes by fila or new balance. I wanted to get everyones or anyone wanted to participate pros cons, likes and dislikes about it. If anyone has used them to train or is curious to try.
I am 25 years old, wrestled and ran track all through high school, serious quadracep tear put me out of comission and off the track for a year, and I got into serious lifting in college. I will admit i did not know squat about lifting, but a good friend of mine, who was a powerlifter really helped me out in the begining and he introduced me to barefoot lifting during squats, deadlifts, clean and jerks major compound movements. I fell in love with it and because we were in college with a 24 hour gym they let us do what we wanted.
Fast forward out of college, back in a regular gym no barefoot ever no way no how. I turned to the five finger shoes last year and i absolutely love it. It took a while to get used to but when doing compound movements I feel a lot more stable. When i first brough these into the gym i got the strangest looks and well deserved, but i love working out in them. and if there was anything to get your to run properly during cardio these shoes would do it, becuase if you do not run properly you will feel it.
I just wanted to get opinions, would you try wearing minimalist shoes to lift, do you think its dumb?
Thoughts?
