making your meals in advance

calveless wonder

New member
I feel i'm not eating as much as i should even though i do eat constantly, however i realize i could eat alot more and save time if i cooked my meals in advance and stored them. When i tried doing this alot of my food came out really dry and nasty when i would reheat it. I would cook it the day before, put it in the fridge and reheat in the microwave and it would be dry as shit (i cook all my meat on the foreman). Can anyone give me advice on premaking meals? I think it would benefit me tremendously as opposed to cooking meat on the foreman every 3 hours.

i went to wal mart and bought about 15 of those glad take alongs and just cooked about 4lbs of chicken and 3 cups of rice and veggies at once. I eat them cold mostly though. it does help immensly to get those containers and just throw them right in the washer after you use them. the reason that it would come out dry btw is that microwaves oscilate on the same frequency as i believe one of the bonds in water.

I'm a huge fan of cooking a ton of pollo and pescado on Sunday night and having some throughout the day for the week...I also get veggies on the go

I try to cook all me stuff before hand too. When it comes to dry chicken, I feel ya on that. If you're not worried about sodium, you can marinade it and that helps. I put hot sauce on just about everything and that helps a little too. You may have to just deal with it. Not many aspects of what we do is easy.

A little lemon juice added before heating keeps some of the moisture and adds flavor. Adding some chopped olives and a little olive juice helps too.

Don't cook the chicken till it's fully cooked like you'll eat it now. Undercook it by 1-2 minutes cuz you are going to reheat it anyway. Just keep the rice & veggies separate. Plus if you cook a whole chicken breast on the foreman, grill etc, let it sit for 5 min before cutting it up. It will continue to cook & by not cutting it, you keep the juices inside. Cutting too early releases all the juice & dries it out.....wait, that didn't sound too good did it??

I eat the food cold. If you don't use the microwave it isn't dry and rubbery when you eat it.

... I'm sure someone will go "That's gross". My reply: If you can't handle a little cold food, or eat what you need to eat, perhaps bodybuilding isn't the sport for you. Try golf or bowling.

haha sorry mullet. Didn't mean you couldn't play golf and still be a bodybuilder, just that if people can't hang with the program, and make a few sacrifices, bodybuilding isn't for them.
