Lyles Rapid Fat loss log, part deux

I am BATMAN!

ok...so...this is a revisit of this diet because frankly...Im a fat ass

I gained a lot of weight over the winter and didn't train for almost three months
I was following a slow carb diet for the last three weeks and it just isn't cutting it..1 lb in three weeks does not success make when you're high BF and should be roasting fat off with carb reduction.

before I hear any criticism about the cals, etc etc..know that this is part of the diet, there are breaks and to combat "starvation mode" I'll be upping my prescribed thyroid med dose
thyroid downregulation is part of the so called starvation equation.

the only supps Im taking are as follows;
1 tbsp flaxseed oil
This stuff is fuckin foul but way cheaper than fish oil. I normally take krill oil but this diet requires a very high amount of omega 3s. This seems to be the only cost effective way to do this.
EC stack...aspirin ommitted
E in the form of primatene tabs, C in the form of caffienated green tea tabs..hey EGCG or whatever it is can't hurt either right?
I pre and probiotic with FOS
I have a crazy skin fungal outbreak thats getting out of hand and diflucan has made a pretty small dent in it.
Oregano Oil caps...fungal infection ^^^
Solgar D3 caps 10,000 iu cycled...I generally test D3 deficient
Multi Vit geared towards women that has some crap in it like reversatol
MSM in the form of organic sulfur...mainly because Im curious if it really is a cure all and the arthritis in my spine is especially bad in the winter.
Adrene-Vive, this is for cortisol in the evening which I tend to test high for and I am one high stress mo-fo. this is a solid product recommended to me some time ago by a sports med doc. I sleep like a baby when I take it and tend not to grind my teeth in my sleep. Its enough evidence for me tht it works.

yesterday was a carb up (binge) day ..which I didn't log but woke up 7 lbs heavier than I have been for the last week...Im already down 2 lbs from this mornings weight (scale is fine..its in line with the gym and drs office)

Ive hit the weight room for the last four days straight..which isn't my norm ..I usually go every other day
I recently changed routines to full body kettlebell exercises for about 45 mins. Today was supposed to be a regular legs day to deplete glycogen but there was a huge bunch of punk ass kids bogarting every conceivable leg machine or station (squat racks etc)
my posterior chain, grip strength and forearms are thanking me so far for the kettlebell workouts

todays macros sit at
1035 kcals
37.5 g fat
24.8 g carbs
147.1 g protein

......

Im going to have to add protien before the end of the day but I am seriously stuffed...I follow an IF pattern of eating and I cant imagine any other way of doing something like this. I ate a preblended Dole salad that was really unbelievable tasty stuff but does have some minor contraband in the blend (shaved carrot, sugar snap peas) but seriously..Im not that insane.

Molly McButter while not healthy might be salvation on a diet where keto with little fat is king.Again Im not insane and theres no way less than a 1/4 tsp of seasoning is ruining anyones diet.

I was surprised at how balanced my micronutrient profile was at this low of cals. I hit the RDA on almost everything without the multi, which isn't factored on my fitday log. Nutrient dense food hey..

edited to update kcals, and macro break down for the end of the day

Yay Shirlene!! Glad to see you logging! I think that we all had some time off and are just getting back into it.

Can't wait to see your success :)

Great to see you on board!! Excited to see your results and interesting list of supps too. I am going to look into some of them.

thanks gals :) ...I just added a carb free fat free whey isolate to the mix for the day...so the above totals are done for the day

Im stuffed/totally done for the day.

Im looking into creatine too because of new research behind it...its been so long sice I looked at it that it was basically blown off for women
re-exploring that a little

I've used creatine about 3 times in the past year. Right now I'm taking Fusion purple K - I have the caps and the pre-workout called 'reps'. This is my 2nd time using this product and I really like it. No loading phase and no bloat. I've been taking it for about 2 weeks now and I'm starting to see a bit of increase in strength.

I didn't do any research on this product, just picked it up. Let me know what you find out! :)

so far Im finding out that loading is uneccesary for both genders and the dosing should be in the neighborhood of 3-5g a day and to stick with creatine monohydrate.

if I was a little more thorough I'd post some studies but...Im lazy :)

day two of this diet has been fine
sticking to the half of usual dose of EC stack twice a day for the moment...left my thyroid hormone alone for today..probably won't up that for another week.

I have noticed when the EC starts to wear off Im a little hungry..not terrible
woke up a cpl of times at night thinking about food which I didn't expect because I was way over full when I went to sleep
woke up 5 lbs lighter but thats to be expected following a carb up..my water weight fluctuates a ridiculous amount.

I woke up thinking about a glass of milk...which is interesting because I rarely drink milk
I will add a calcium supp today because I was supposed to and forgot to..and thinking about milk reminded me of it..lol

so far things are ok..I'll be hitting the gym late afternoon today and will go for a full body kettlebell workout given glycogen depletion is already occuring w/o a leg day.

So, about gun control..

Lolol jk girl. Good luck to you, I'll be following

lolol...

;)
thanks...
its going well so far. Im kind of surprised because last time I tried this I went into it straight out of keto and fell on my face in short order.
This go around I went in to a day after a hardcore refeed and Im not even slightly bothered.
There are three things different though
Im higher BF this go around
The E in my EC is name brand (generics conspiracy anyone?)
and I was meticulous about mapping out food for the next 7 days and gave myself a lot of protein choices so I felt well prepared.

I've run EC several times, I run it with white willow bark though. It dries me out, gives me that annoying cotton mouth thirsty feeling, and when I don't take it I feel much more hungry than when it's suppressing my appetite. You're not alone there

Only thing I can say is just make sure you get enough (cals, water, etc), but you know this.

yeah Ive run it a bunch of times..I can honestly say that for whatever reason this is the only time its felt close to old school ephedra days for me.
I've used primatene for my E source before but I've never used the green tea sup for caffiene so maybe that was the key.

cals are actually supposed to be lower than I logged yesterday but the math doesn't jive because Im actually counting all my food intake...the book/diet actually says to ignore all fibrous veggies for cals and carbs
at least thats what im telling myself as to why the numbers don't jive....
water is something I have to pay attention to because I'm notoriously bad about it, then bitch when I retain a shitload of water.

Today ends up at

981 cals
41 g fat
22 g carbs
130 g prot

the higher fat content accounts for me adding the flax seed oil into the log...which I didn't yesterday
the calc does some crazy shit where it says its 120 total cals 122 of which are fat cals...wtf?

Im seriously incredibly overstuffed again.

again I can't imagine doing this w/o doing it with IF
I will probably switch to the strict leangains method after this massive cut...which I haven't totally decided when I'll take a diet break on yet. The diet break is prescribed in the book/diet

Im not really seeing the need for the "free meal" in all of this but maybe my mood towards it will change by the weekend.

actually really unhappy about not having anything I consider tastey today...skipped egg whites which I think was a mistake for satiety
wound up at
815 cals
14.6 g fat
21.3 g carbs which includes asparagus and garden salad
150.3 g prot..helping and a half of whey...vanilla/crappy brand ..covered in cinnamon today

Hit my macros yesterday
not going to bother posting them up today.
Had an intense craving yesterday then discovered fat free carb free (probably full of junk) ricotta cheese
mixed the ricotta with some vanilla whey 1/4 c to two scoops...added a table spoon of water because it was very thick..sprinkled cinnamon on it
OMG this was delicious and very filling...this will be my new go to "cheat"
for some reason Ive been walking around thinking about cinnamon for three days.

For carb-up day I intend to make protein fluff too but just to see how it comes out more than anything and so I don't obsess about the carbs from berries in it.

I also discovered a fat free but not carb free whipped creab that in its two tablespoon serving size was delightful on sugar free jello cups.
This kept my sanity last night when I was craving junk food.

down another lb since yesterday but my workout was really bad yesterday...I could only deadlift 165 lbs
I couldn't do any kettlebell workout as fast as I normally do.
Im not hitting the gym today because my schedule/daycare won't allow it.
Tomorrow I think Im gonna drink regular gatorade before my workout because some carbs are allowed pre-workout.

Im down a total of 8 lbs over 5 days...7 lbs of that were due to a carb up anyway the day before I started this.
I can't say the diet is torturous with good coping strategies but if it winds up being a lb lost over a weeks time I know my metabolism is seriously fucked and I'll have to re-strategize this whole thing. I really just wanted to get below a set point I've been stuck at for 6 years.

still going strong...was going to carb up today but changed my mind because Im not even remotely bothered/craving and my workout is maintaining

weight is dropping down from a carb up on friday...I hit 250 g of carbs on friday but not much else for macros :/...upped 2 lbs by the next morning..down a lb from that today

so, I'll see where my weight is at tomorrow morning for a full 7 days worth of this.
for the record..you can make this amazingly diverse and tastey with the right food and seasoning choices.

Damn how you handling such low cals? I become a crazy bitch if i go too low

IDK, its not bugging me

I think im getting the fukin flu tho

Proud of you for making the whole week!! I hope the scale is kind.. ;)

the scale mysteriously went up this morning...I have to look over yesterdays logs but I suspect it has more to so with muscle swelling and a cup of chicken broth I had yesterday more than anything

the chicken broth isn't something I'd normally have but I was convinced I was dying yesterday and had a low grade fever

I hadn't touched a weight for several months and have it in my head I can hit it hard like I used to. Is this what a male ego is like?
Anyway...Im not going to stress about it because my hips were down a collasal two inches for the week and my waist was down 1.5 inches
calves stayed the same, thighs went up an inch..bi's stayed the same forearms went up a .5 inch

this is all sounds like newbie style gains and some fat loss to me
not bad for no gear

on another note...my tris, ass, outside of my thighs and lats (??!?) are killing me
also the front of my neck is killing me but I know what I did there...I was straining the hell out of my neck during a new (for me) exercise I was doing.

my ending weight for the week is two lbs higher than precarb up...Im not gonna sweat it. I'll push for another week and see where I'm at because I feel fine today.

I wouldn't sweat it either and the chicken broth likely equals sodium.

I had that same ego trip when I started back a few weeks ago. Right back to the same weights on my first workout and was hating it!! I've since backed it off. My chest was sore for almost a week. lol

Im completely off diet today....not that I intend to eat crap..but Im not counting anything today

I have a persistent 0n-coming flu feeling that I can't shake that I want to rule out is caused by diet or not

A wise thing to do. And the flu that's going around is brutal so here's hoping it's not that!!

I feel a little better today but not 100%

back on diet...going fine today...haven't added any supps back in

will probably miss the gym today tho because Im off to go buy a jeep...

so, Ive concluded the RFL diet and lost a total of nine lbs in a little over two weeks
thats a true nine pounds without strength loss and AFTER a hardcore binge fest of all things carbohydrate.

Im pretty impressed with the diet and I think contrary to popular opinion variety is the name of the game with this diet as long as its mapped out well in advance.
I had a couple of go-to foods like egg beaters because the measurements and macros were so spot on everytime and its easy to make. Another food choice was precooked but not frozen crab. This added a very tastey nutrient dense food to my diet. I also didn't obsess over my salads like..omg theres a peapod in there! I just enjoyed the peapod. I also bought a ton of zero cal seasonings...probably not the healthiest stuff in the world but damn tastey.

I would continue with the diet but the new coach as me on a different program all together and because its so different from my regular training I'm following the diet plan for now.

I'll make another thread about that at some point, maybe when I get the hang of it as a routine a little better.

Are you training with someone local or someone online??

Congrats on the loss too!!

its a combo of both cali
basic online outline , tailored to you and what division you're competing in (or not) and then has various methods of check ins.
Constant support.
Honestly the workout has been brutality for me, the diet is very relaxed
theres an emphasis on minimal supplementation (think multi-v) and healthy eating without extremes
they also emphasize hair, skin, makeup, costume and if youre say in the "fitness" category of competing your routine and music.
There is also a strong emphasis on what I guess I think of as "girl power"; keeping a healthy balance in life and a positive outlook.
The skin part is a challenge so far...I can't get in to see a dermatologist for 8 mths. I'm going to see if I can afford a medi spa visit.

My coach is beautifully matched to me...a little older than me, first competed late in life, in corporate sales and has 5 kids (two hers, three step children) so shes very much on the same page as me.

Im local (sort of) to the main studio so can do the various camps involved with it as well.

so far I'm only a week in and already I can't believe the difference in what muscles are tightening up where.
Its a type of lifting and cardio I normally despise but I figured if I kept doing the same things I've always done I'll keep getting the same results I've always gotten.

It sounds pretty cool!! And perfect too...a woman who lives it and has the balance. I love the supplement minimalist approach, as well. :) I'd love to have a look at the site, if you would share the info...I had someone lined up but she's not getting back to me which is never a good sign. lol
