devastations thesis on karma economics and the solution to rampant inflation of the k system
to start, the system as stands is flawed. the constant creation of an object with a set rate of value will begin to be devalued as the endless creation of the object is left to go on indefinetly.
this statement is best translated as what once was considered a fair value of 60,000 karma hits for the price of $98.97 (~606 k pts / $1) is now valued around 1,000,000 karma hits for less then $299 (i've heard this is negotiable) which values karma at (3344 k pts / $1). with the system left unchecked the inflation rate will grow exponentially now that members hit for the fair value of $1.
this flaw has left elitefitness.com's with a real problem on it's hand as members no longer see value in purchasing karma (a real-world financial problem for ef). it has a secondary problem with the top karma holders with the ability to destroy a newbie poster to ef with one negative 110% hit. this is a serious problem now for both the owner of ef and now any future members, as more and more veteran members are able to weild a large k power.
there is a solution, however. it is a bit complex in theory, but is likely the only solution to this growing problem. the solution lies in a form of taxation of the karmic system. this taxation would be a double pronged taxation system, based upon karmic power and post count going forward.
the first level of taxation is to have a tiered tax level based upon karmic power and is a transfer of wealth tax. this taxation would come out of the karma giver's own personal account. an example would in theory be:
Tiered Tax Bracket
1. anyone who falls into the 1 to 300 karma power bracket would be taxed a flat 15% of karma transferred to the recipient. (i.e a member with a karma power of 300 would be subjected to a 45 pt k reduction (300 x 15%) from their own k account)
2. anyone who falls into the 301 to 750 karma power bracket would be taxed a flat 25% of karma transferred to the recipient. (i.e a member with a karma power of 750 would be subjected to a 188 pt k reduction (750 x 25%) from their own k account)
3. anyone who falls into the 751 to 1500 karma power bracket would be taxed a flat 35% of karma transferred to the recipient. (i.e a member with a karma power of 1500 would be subjected to a 525 pt k reduction (1500 x 35%) from their own k account)
4. anyone who falls into the 1501 and above karma power bracket would be taxed a flat 40% of karma transferred to the recipient. (i.e a member with a karma power of 1501 would be subjected to a 600 pt k reduction (1501 x 40%) from their own k account)
this solution deals partially with the infinite creation of karma as the system is now taking some of it created back, in a tiered fashion to accomadate inflation.
the next theory deals with another problem that coincidently goes hand in hand with the extreme wealth building that is running rampant and destroying the karma system.
karma "whoring" and karma "threads" often go unchecked by the system and these problems perpetuate further inflation. the solution to this is a taxation of the posting system. an implementation of a flat tax of the posting system will negate "whoring" and will also reduce the vast amount of k existing in the "k1" karma supply. an example would in theory be:
Flat Tax Bracket of 30% of KP
1. anyone with a karmic power of 500 would be taxed 150 k pts from their personal account to make a post (1000 x 30%)
2. anyone with a karmic power of 1000 would be taxed 300 k pts from their personal account to make a post (1000 x 30%)
3. anyone with a karmic power of 2000 would be taxed 600 k pts from their personal account to make a post (2000 x 30%)
with the inclusion of this system of taxation of the capitalistic population of ef will also come a socialistic system for the non enterprising (or those who don't give two shits about karma) populace. non-platinum members will be given a cap of 15,000 karma points in their personal account before any taxation would ever take place. platinum members would be given a cap of 40,000 karma points in their personal account before any taxation would ever take place. (these amounts were chosen based on the current prices of different items for sale in the karma store, as no would be put in poverty by taxation and would still be able to purchase items, such as bombs, diffusers, or a free plat membership, and retain their ability to still post as members of elitefitness)
these two important theories coupled together solve the current rampant inflatioinary karma system and the real monetary effect they have on ef, by
1. taking back from the system which infinitely produces karma that is created from nothing
and
2. by doubly taxing the wealthy who post to gain karma and give karma to receive karma (whoring)
both of these theories are realistic and should be implementable by administration and are viable solutions to the impending economic meltdown with the ef karma system
