Karma inflation... How to fix it???

I think that hitting is something to be encouraged rather than denied or further restricted. Members enjoy getting a hit. The more hits we receive, the merrier we all are.

Yes.... Adding more itmes to the Karma store is a must... But we still need to start by slowing down the rate at which NEW karma is created int he system.

I still say revalue the currency, then tweak the algorithm. Since I don't know how the variables in the algorithm are weighted, I don't know best how to tweak it.

Off the top of my head, for Plats currently Power is calculated as:

1 point for each membership anniversary
1 for each month of membership
1 for each 500 posts
1 for each 2000 Hits

If your hits suffered a Kilo-drop then you'd have

and while this is a good point, how would it effect anyone going forward? no one would be penalized for receiving a hit, however the giver would be taxed from their own account for creating something out of nothing. there is no other way to rationalize it

you could change the spread number from 18 to 1000, like i'm sure some small minded folks think would solve the problem, but the truth is you are still creating something from nothing with nothing ever being returned to the system by those creating. it cannot work like that. upping the spread rate solves jack shit

How about adding a variable weighting number of unique hits received as well as the current accumulated power of all hits.

We need to reevaluate the exchange rate of the currency. Remember when the Italian Lira was 1350 to the dollar? Just adjust everyone's karma and karmic power by a factor of 1000. Anyone reduced to a value of either factor less than 1 remains at 1. Adjust your other formulations ala MightyMouse from there.

That way the same people who have a large karmic power and value will still be larger than everyone else but to a lesser degree. You could actually keep the current formula with this solution and it would take a year or so to require an adjustment again.

Do this, reformulate the kramic system for a lesser degree of inflation and/or other tweaks, and that would be the answer. Renormalization could be done at later times when necessary.

As far as I'm concerned, this is the answer -- the credited response. Should not effect EF Corporation profeits selling (actually, it might INCREASE people buying karma), would completely renormalize the system, would give programmers a chance to recode for lower inflation keeping in mind the buying/selling/trading/stock market/bookie forum we have here of karma.

Numbers don't lie. They may be smaller, but it would be a matter of relativeity. Hammy has 5,934,402,444,965 karma points and I have 50,000. Readjust however the programmers (Diggs, BRR, GS, whoever does that) to, for an arbitrary example, 50,000:1, thus Hammy would have 118,688,049 karma, and I would have 1 karma. Hammy: Could you live with this kinda thing? You'd still be on top, but the numbers are meaningless, its's what the numbers are relative to.

It's either this or something analagous to this, or allowing karma to increase exponentially, decreasing profeits for EFC. The answer is obvious.


This thread should be closed (as in there's nothing more to add of substantive value), as there are no other credited choices for the big picture of karma and EF, EFC and it's subsidiaries for the next ten years or so.

well onisly if they gave me the optoin of my milloun k or a t-shert I would say keep the t-shert I have more fun with my k.I would be willing to part with some of my say 10k here or more I mean I have bin know to drop 50k in a night on bombs anny way but I would never part with to much of it because I need it to make more.and most people would feel the same save for the people who dont realy want k anny way wich is not what the problem is.

I might part with a little more of it if there more fuchers to use it on like skatter bombs like give me a discount one plate and g bomb if I drop so many at once like a scatter bomb.or a bomb sheild were I could bomb people and by a sheild to make it so they cant bomb me back or give me red k for like a day our to.
I just like haveing fun with my k and haveing fun is worth a lot to me.give me ways to have fun and I will spend my k.

Reducing K by some factor doesn't in itself do anything for inflation but move us back down the curve. Only when coupled with a new formula can it hope to be effective and one can apply a new formula without the reduction in current holdings. Ergo the reduction in holdings is not pertinent.
