Jean Claude Van Damme

Was Van Damme ever on steroids? This guy had a very nice physique when he was in his prime... Just curious..

what a loser he was. tons of gear and training and he was still a pussy lol.

i'd like to see him and steven segal (sp?) fight in real life. i'd put money on segal cause he used real moves even though a lot of people think he's corny his fight scenes were legit. he even used some tai chi in some of them which is bad ass.

Man i remember a interview i read with Sylvester stalone in fhm mag a while ago,
He said that in the late eighties he used to have some prety wild partys at his place and all the big names would be there like arnold, Bruce willis , steven segal and van damme.
Stalone says that one night van damme had caught wind that steven segal had been talkin shit about how he could kick van's ass in a fight,
so van damme lost it and called out segal in front of everyone and challenged him right there and then, segal said he had to be somewhere and got the fuck out of there but damme was so worked up about it so he followed segal to a night club and wouldn't let up, apparently segal backed down like a bitch and apologized said he didnt mean it! haha .

off the subject at hand but i thought that was a cool story

there is an actor/hells angel i dint remember who it is. but i do remember seing the footage of a cleeb party years ago where van dam was talking shit to the guy and he hit van dam 1 time in th mouth. van dam was on the floor bloody and crying. he's a phony

i got to tell you, Jackie Chan would kick Segal, Van Dame and Norris asses together when he was in his prime, ever watch any of his early movies back in china? like The Young Master or even Drunken Master part 1? he looked jacked i would swear he was on something...

Van Damme probalby juiced and starved himself on a super low calorie deficit. He looked really defined and ripped in bloodsport, but not too much mass. Good genetics, low cals, cardio and high rep weight lifting, plus a little juice.

Van Damme was a huge coke head. That explains his leaness.

Overall, I wasn't very impressed with his physique once I joined a real gym. Sad thing though is that 90% of people on here dream/juice/train/juice/eat/juice to try to look like Ronnie Coleman when their genetics are obviously more geared to a Van Damme physique. Which they don't even achieve that because they pursue an unrealistic goal and work against their body's potential. And wind up never looking much different year after year.

Genius words.

He needs to go back to France with all the other pussies.

He's from Belgium, not France.

Apparently he won the European Karate Association's middleweight championship and later on a Mr. Belgium bodybuilding title.

But then, in a biography I read this:

"His claims of being a European Champion were thoroughly researched and found to be false(??). Howard Hanson, President of the World Karate Association, only found evidence of Jean-Claude Van Damme competing in 1 amateur bout and writers from Black Belt Magazine have labeled him "a complete fraud." Though no proof of Van Damme's champion status was ever presented, Van Damme's lawyer, Martin Singer, made a public statement defending his client: "There are records to document his martial-arts acclaim. He's the one who does those splits on chairs. He doesn't have a stunt man do that."

And here's a good one....from the age of 16 he studied ballet for 5 years!

I don't think he was on any gear. He was not overly massive or anything. Just lean and toned.

If you look at him in early films like No Retreat No Surrender and the break dance one Breakin, he always looked lean and toned. Not jacked.

He's gone downhill now though.

Everything I've ever read about Van Damme says that he was 18-2 in full contact karate competitions prior to his acting days. He had 18 wins all via knockout or TKO, and his two losses were both to the same guy, Patrick Teugels, both by decision. In his third match with Teugels he won via TKO in the first round when the guys nose got broken and they wouldnt let him continue. That was Van Damme's last fight.

Also, the reason there was skepticism when he first started his movie career was because he fought under his given name, not his stage name. His given name is Van Varenberg.

LOL, it's called aging!

He was 25 when he filmed "No Retreat, No Surrender", he's now 48.

Being 50 myself, I can vouch first hand that you don't feel the same...and I've never stopped training in 32 years.

Steven Segal is/was a fat slob who just beat up on hispanic guys in all his movies.

Jean Claud was a ballet dancer, not a fighter.

Fu** them both.
No matter how much they get bashed in this thread, they're both more famous, rich, and get more pussy than any of us on this entire board.
Now i hate them even more then before this post

Is it Bloodsport where JCVD sets his heels on two chairs about 5ft apart in a perfect split and held himself there while he practiced punches?

If he did that without any wires, that's some serious strength and flexibility.

yeah thats bloodsport

Chuck Norris was a legit tough guy in his day, he was a feared competitor.
Chuck Norris was the Chuck Liddell of his era. He then got into movies like Bruce Lee. At that time he was one of the pioneers to bring martial arts to the screen in America.
Granted to watch his movies you can’t compare them to todays.
Chuck has aged, like we all will, but he is in great shape and continues to be involved with martial arts. He works with law enforcement and kids; he has remained a gentleman and an all around good person, to mention his name along with Van Damme is an insult.

Van Damme on the other hand, is not a true martial artist; he lied about his so called kickboxing career. He was in fact involved in dance, ballet, which is why he is so limber.
Although his movies are entertaining, they are far from his actual ability.
He is not a big person, (in more ways than one) if we all dieted down to a whopping 170 or less, we’d be ripped too.
As far as a person, he is an egotistical asshole. He does nothing for anyone unless there’s something in it for him. I hope that time has taught him something, anything.

Chuck Norris actually died several years ago...death is just afraid to tell him.

Did you know Chuck Norris is so fast he can run around the world and punch himself in the back of the head.

Before the Boogie Man goes to bed at night, he checks under his bed for Chuck Norris.

(My son has a whole poster of these.)

Hes a film star, who gives a fuck if he can handle himself in real life?? Id put money on him whipping half of you guys though. Why? because, of his movies he has some martial arts background and was obviously in phenominal physical condition. Most of the people on here are straight ahead training for bodybuilding, nothing wrong with that but someone who trains like a fighter would eat you for breakfast. Functional strength and power easily outweight big benching and deadlifting. His speed and flexiablity were awesome. Yes he was on steroids too, but lets be honest - which actors who have to play the "hero" are'nt? Van Damme was a ballet dancer - does that make him a pussy? No, Ballet the most injury prone sport in the world beleieve it or not.

ya he admitted steroids ruined his body on an interview. He was on them most of his career, a good 20 years. I am guessing primo and somthing else.
He also did coke for a lot of years aswell which didn't help.

I prefer the d-bol/meth stack.

Yall are focused on all these dudes with not much actual stunt talent or fight ability. Being a martial artist myself, i suggest yall check out tony jaa, in Ong Bak and The Protector

He does all his own stunts. He came from the ghetto of thailand, and he learned muay thai because he had to, like all the other young boys.

Why is everyone hating on him?

He's a devastatingly good looking dude (no homo) with a great body, a great career, a shitlod of money and women love him, I know a lot of people who have aspired to be like him....I grew up watching his movies while he beat everyone up.....fraud or not, he's done a good job...

I'm wondering while everyone is critisizing his body on here, why don't you all post pictures of how much better you all look? :)

theres nothing wrong with his physique. Its great. He is just old school. But i agree, I grew up watching his stuff too. He was inspiring. the ballet takes away from his masculine credibility, I think..

well im sure he did ballet for numerous amounts of reason, maybe to better his flexibility? kind of like Arnold and Matty Ferrigno in the begining of Pumping Iron, as i remember they were in a ballet class, does that make them pussies??? no, they simply better their posing technics... I give props to van dam, because no matter how hard you hate on him, he has it all money, houses, cars, and any girl he could possibly want, including yours if he had the chance lol

umm....so you are judging him cause he took ballet? lol....unbelievable

I did gymnastics as a kid, does that make me "un-masculine?"

I have stated before that I would fight Segal with no hesitation. That is how much I think of his actual martial arts skills.

Which isn't saying much.

i honestly think that segal would murder van damme but i could be wrong. thats an interesting story and im going to look into that. im sure arnold let everyone know what the deal about gear was.

Does it matter?

They interviewed Van Damm once and asked him what he would do if he was attacked by 3 people on the street. He said: I'm a really fast runner.

There was also a big media story about how someone pretended to be a mobster and scared the shit out of Seagal and Seagal couldn't do shit.

Hollywood makes everyone seem untouchable and 7 feet tall.

I've read lots of rumours about his ballet career, and that the whole story was merely a stunt to distance him from competing b-film action stars, who at the time all was former "karate-stars".
