Slow cardio is a complete waste of time. 7 days is also too much. Make your 5 days more effective by doing two days at moderate pace. 1 day with 1 mile warm up, 4x400 meter repeats as fast as you can with a 1 lap walk in between each 400, 1 mile cooldown. 1 day with 3x1 mile repeats with 1 lap walk break in between. 1 day of walk 1 minute, jog 1 minute, RUN 2 minutes, jog 1, walk one for a total of 3 miles.
You have to keep making improvements in your running just like you do lifting. This will be far more effective than 3 miles at 30 minutes every single day. You'll get better results and get much quicker with the varied approach than 5 days steady state.
