I want to lose 40+ pounds

I am fairly new to all of this. But my son is 16 and has been over weight for about 5 years. He didn't exersize at all. He just sat around and watched tv and played video games. He is 5'8" and weighed 200 lbs. All he did was join a basket ball team and started exercizing and lifting weights EVERYDAY. He didn't change his diet at all (at first). He dropped 10 pounds just by getting of his butt. (I'm not implying that you don't exercize) Now he is changing his diet, and I can see that his muscle is being defined and he looks like he dropped another 5 to 10 pounds of body fat. I'm not sure what your situtation is, but when you are young, most of the problem is drinking soda all of the time. 5 sodas can add up to 800 calories....eliminate that and in a week you should loose a couple of pounds.

That's a start. You should try adding 1 tbsp. flaxseed oil in the morning, but for now everything else should be your regular diet. Remember, at your age, your body is going thru changes, so you need to keep it in a 'fed' state. Going on crash diets is not healthy, especially for someone your age. Eventually, you'll start naturally leaning out as you're growing more and more.

Exactly what I've said, however for some reason coming from Mr. X it sounds like GOLD...

Go play some sports. Get rid of your friends that just sit around and make friends that do stuff. You have to go on a lifestlye diet.
 
Lay off the Fast Food, Cinema Junk Food, Gino Pizza Rolls after school; or whatever you are blowing it on... Instead of playing quake go for a bike ride! Basic Concept "EAT LESS MOVE MORE..." How about 8-12 16oz glasses of filtered Water daily... If all els fails try some cocain just for a month or so ;)

i probablly didn't explain this

at the beggining of this summer, i weighted 216. I now weight about 199 pounds... so i've almost lost 20 pounds since then. For the most part i've eliminated all sodas and most fastfood. I'm going to cut out all that junk completely though...

You guys can say "sit out and play some sports"... but you know what, i'm going for the gold. I'm going to start working out.

One more question. I have school, and i don't want to bring a protein shake to school....... can i just eat chicken and carrots for lunch?


also, how many grams of protein should someone 200 pounds get? Shouldn't i be getting around 100 grams a day?



this is going to be my eating schuduele...


Morning:
-Wheat cereal
-Smim Milk
-Cup of Cofee with skim milk and Splenda
-Chicken Breast ( i need suggestions for something... i don't really want to have a protein shake because i hear it makes you fart )

2-3 hours later:
- A couple peices of Lean chicken breast

Lunch:
- Chicken breast
- Carrots
- ??? not sure what else??? Normally i have a protein/Meal replacement bar

Snack after school
- Serving of tuna with pickles

: after workout :

- muscle milk

Dinner:

- Either chicken or steak with a baked potatoe with pepper and some salt. Green beans maybe also.
 
you realize that if you do this, we will force you to take progress pics, and enter your first BB competition when you are 19 . . .

i'm going to honestly take weekly pictures though, that's a must. I'm not sure about entering a bb competition. Let's first see if i can shred the weight haha :Chef:
