how does my diet look?

im 6'0 220lbs aout 18%bf --- my goal is to get as lean as possible, im shooting for 8-9% bf by summer. here is what i eat every day:

meal 1: 1 whole egg, 3/4cup of egg beaters and 1 apple or bananna

meal 2 (post workout) 40 grams of whey and a bananna

meal 3 1 can of tuna on 2 slices of whole wheat bread

meal 4 6-7 oz of steak or chicken w/ veggies

meal 5 whey protien drink 40grams protien or chicken

i also give myself 3 cheat meals a week witch will obviously spike my calories on that given day, it will most of the time be about 4-6 slices of a thin crust bar pizza


let me know what you guys think. should i be eating more or less??
 
i think you should drop all the pizza and add a meal # 6 to each day at the least
 
Meal 1: looks like you have 25 grams of protein total. should add more egg whites. or drink 1 scoop of whey with water before your meal. the apple or banana is fine, add 1 cup of plain oatmeal. theres not enough carbs in this diet, and you will put yourself in starvation mode.

meal 2: fruits arent simple sugars as much as people think they are. they have to be broken down first by the liver, so you wont benefit the fruit post-workout (IMO), your better off with white bread or white rice, or if you can afford it, waxy maize or dextrose

meal 3: looks good.

Meal 4: the steak or chicken is fine. add 1 cup of brown rice to the meal

meal 5: either chicken, steak or fish again plus soome veggies (broccoli, lettuce,etc)

meal 6: i wouldn't use whey for your last meal, it digests too quick, thats why i think whey is only good for first thing in the morning and post workout. for this meal, you want someting that digest slow to get you through the night without food. you could do 8 egg whites or 8 oz chicken breast, they digest a bit slower. for even slower digestion, 1 cup of fat free cottage cheese would be a great meal for before bed and it has 30 grams of protein.

definitely drop the ppizzza, its not doing you any good. i would use this diet for 3 days and every fourth day, eat double the amount of carbs. that way, you keep your body from going into starvation mode and it keeps your metabloism from slowing down. no carbs for the last 2 meals
 
thanks for the reply guys.. i knew i wasnt eating enough carbs, my problem is i dont like to eat in the morning. i almost have to force food down bcause my stomach just feels like shit.
 
If you are for real and really want it, you have to get the idea of cheat meal out of your head. 1 per week max. Your body will store fat any chance it gets and try to avoid burning fat if it can. There's no reason to go forward 5 steps and then take 2 steps back. You'll eventually get there, but not as fast as you would probably like to.


Keep the protein hig of course, keep the carbs moderate. Keep the type of carb low glycemic. No sugar and crap like that. Oatmeal, brown rice, sweet potatoe, whole wheat etc.
 
thanks for the reply guys.. i knew i wasnt eating enough carbs, my problem is i dont like to eat in the morning. i almost have to force food down bcause my stomach just feels like shit.

a shake is better than nothing.
 
i find it hard to eat in the morning as well, but i wake up earlier and it takes me a good 45 minutes to finish 2 cups of steel cut oats, 12 egg whites, 1 yolk, 2 scoops of whey mixed in 16oz of pure orange juice. and have you thought about doing cardio first thing in the morning? i can eat like crazy after doing empty stomach cardio.

thats a good idea...i definately eat more after a workout... the thing is finding the time to do cardio in the morning and weight training after that.
