I have a yacht which I am remodeling. It was named "over forty too" by a prior owner, but I HATE that name. The name means that the boat is over 40 feet and the owner is over forty, also. Very stupid, old-fart name for a very sexy boat. My fiance is thinking of "trophy wife" as a tribute to me. Any suggestions would be appreciated. :qt:

my boat is named "another fn thing I cant afford"

you could use that as I believe you can use the same name if your in another country

One boat naming superstition revolves around whether or not it is okay to rename a previously-owned boat. Some say it is bad luck if you remove an old name on a vessel.

Many people name a boat after their spouse or children; this is nice, but you can run into problems if more kids are on the way. And, it's not very original. Think about how you paid for the boat when trying to come up with a name. You can always name your boat after your profession or industry; or if you are paying for your boat with money made in the stock market or gambling proceeds, perhaps you should incorporate that message into your boat's name. Of course, if you own your own company, it is a smart marketing move to name your boat after the company, and instill your brand at every port.

Here are some really good ones:

1) Seas The Day
2) Aquaholic
3) Island Time
4) Dragonfly
5) Pura Vida
6) Encore
7) Black Pearl
8) Destiny
9) Serenity Now
10) License to Chill

I love walking around the harbor here and reading what people name their boats/yachts. Some are pretty funny.

Do a google search for "boat names"....I bet websites list hundreds of ideas.
