Hey guys i really need help.

i beat cancer...and i am trying to build a strong new body since i have been given a second chance.

my question is this....dumbell curls....i started out being weak and only being able to do 3 sets of 12 pound dumbells at 10 reps a set...then i got to where i could do 3 sets of 15 pound...then 20....then 25...but now i have been stuck on only being able to do 3 sets of 25 pound curls.....i cannot seem to build enough muscle to move up to 30 pounds........i have been doing 3 sets of 10 rep 25 pound dumbell curls once a week for 3 months now.....why cant i get to where i can do at least 1 set of 30 pounds?....i curls the 25 all the time...why cant i break thru this small platau??......should i be doing more reps a a lower weight?.......instead of 3 sets of 25 pound (my failure limit)........just being able to curls 30 pounds will be a milestone for me having beat cancer and all and ir eally want to accomplish it...someone pleaase give me some advice
thanks
scott

Congrats on beating cancer! Try to do as many reps as possible with the 30 pound dumbells for a set or two. Each workout try to increase that till you achieve 10 reps.

use different rep range in all exercises , for ex. 4 sets dumbell curl 12 / 10 / 8 / 6 reps each set add more weight and do less reps always until failure , u can add 1 drop set at the end choose half the weight of ur last set of 6 reps and do it right after without resting, if u choose a weight thinking u can do only 10 reps but when reaching 10 u felt being able to do more just continue till u fail , the number of reps is approximative , u could use a spotter to help u do some more reps when u fail (x reps) 1 or 2 more would be enough , if ur goal is size and strength rest for 2 to 3 min , if it's cutting and losing weight rest only for 30 sec to 1 min of course u'll be using less weight.
good luck with ur new life , wish u the best bro.
P.S: PM me if u need any assistance in ur training.
