First time poster here. I've actually been following the boards for a while now. Reading and learning before asking questions. Id first like to say a Big Thanks to Mr. X. His post are well thought out and informative. Up until last week, I had no idea I was "starving" myself. I was under the impression burn more calories then you take in and you lose weight. Well, it has worked as far as the scale says, but Im not sure how much of that was muscle. I have slowly been turning the diet around to take in more calories, healthy calories based on the BMR.

I look forward to being part of this community of like minded people that are in the same position or been in the position I am in as far as weight lose and body building goals.

A little about me.

I've been a member of a gym since 16. I am now 25.

I never took it seriously. Just lifting here and there, mainly playing basketball in the league it ran. 2000 I got big into lifting and cardio. This lasted till I injured my left shoulder. At the point in 2000 when I stopped I was 6ft 210 19% body fat.

Fast forward to now. 6ft 220 and around 23% bodyfat according to my last test first of January. So this is what I am working with. At my largest I was 275 which was last summer. At that point I changed my eating habbits. Not drastically, but stopped drinking sodas and cut way back on the alcohol. This got me down to 240 by October. The "starvation" method was implemented. I was at gym 5-6 days a week. Strength training and cardio, but my calorie intake never went above 1200. I used shakes, tuna, and progresso soup to keep watch on my intake.
Thx again to Mr. X I've abandoned this method and Im making the plans for a better, healthier diet. Hard to accomplish anything without a plan. So plan I am.
