August 23rd........

I figured it was time to get serious with my journal again. My last one kinda went haywire lol....I'm planning in running another 5K next month which will be my first goal of this log but my main goal is to run a 10K next spring/summer sometime. So that is the long term goal. SOooooooooooo

Mon.........3M run
Tues........Rest/cross train
Wed........6X400 Mile Pace
Thurs...... 3M run
friday...... Rest/cross train
sat......... 3M run
sun........ 5M run

So this is what this week should look like, but kinda messed up with period and vacation lol......

Food/cals ranges.......

Cals 1400- 1750
Fat 31-68 grams
Carb 158-284
Prot 100-153

Supplements:
Glucerroll
Sesapure
Levorox

I'll go jogging with ya :qt: ...definately get those weights in, or get some bands and do what ya can at home too ;) Just a thought.......

Awesome GG, to be completely honest you and many other EF women here look incredibly good and are likely in the top 1% of their age class in fitness, health, etc.

I think that is what brings us all here :) best wishes.

Brilliant title for your new log GG!!

Good luck with the training.

Personal question - how do you comfortably keep the "girls" in place when running - what make of bra do you have?

I'm not GG, but I'm pretty endowed......I like the ones that are more like a bra - they clasp in back, have underwires (if you like them personally, they have them without) and the straps adjust.......also they are usually labeled a "compression" bra.......I find they really help.....

Thanks Jens - I look out for those instead - I like the underwire.

Good morning,

Us older girls you mean MILFS or as my husband calls me MIAF (mother Iam....)you get it, hahahaha. or yummy mommy's!!!!!

Aug 23rd........

cals:
1722
carb 199
fat 80
prot 55

Really bad macros need to work on that BUT the cals were up there. Work up in the middle of the night statving.........had 4 oreos...hence the fat and carbs

3 mile run.....29 min on incline 2....400.5 cals (just for Shadow)
Ran most of it at 6-6.2 miles per hour which is higher then usual for me....

As for bras....I have a Nike one that holds everything in....I also will double up..Wear a short sports bra under a longer one....I have done a bra under a sports bra...but that was when I was nursing lol......Nike seems to be the best brand for me....

My all over fat loss is really starting to show. even though I have droped about 3 pounds in the last 2 months..I can see a difference. i will post pics.

August 25th.....

Okay pics...things never change lol....
a couple inches and pounds but not much......still storing food as fat I am assuming from not enough cals and maybe being 40 LOLOLOL sounds good

Yesterday

Cals 1495
cals burned 261.50.....bike ride and couple sprints then it poured lol...tonight the treadmill if raining

Okay for speed training....if my pace is 2:30 then I need to be doing 2:22 400's........this is to help increase my speed.....

Ahhh don't worry bout the pics, have you looked at side by sides though??? And like the others always say that always comes down to diet... so after a week of sticking to a "clean" diet take some more shots :Perk:

Period don't help either lol....only difference in the past couple months is inch on my thighs and my calfs.....as you can see all my bf is on the top...apple shape lol

Dear Gymgurl,

You are not old, nor do you need to run from said "aging".
Please understand that if you continue to think this way I will find you and and I will beat your ass until you think differently.

Thank you.

best,

Good Morning :coffee:
What book?

It is called "The Runners Diet" The ultimate eating plan that will make every runner and walker leaner, faster and fitter

By Madelyn H. Ferstrom, PhD, CNS

I have been doing mainly cardio....but my goals are to race in a few weeks....I do weights too but my main forcus has been working on endurance.....

I find the doing weights helps me with my performance running.

I know that running has leaned out my legs which is good. I can build leg muscle without working at it lol....I have huge calfs....So I am excited that they are leaner and looking more defined..But after this next race my plan will change include weights and cardio....my challange right now is diet, complete next race and then....CHANGE IT ALL.....lol

Another problem is time....with 3 kids I can't spend a ton for time at the gym. This will be changing soon...school is starting....WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good for you for having that much endurance to do that much cardio. I am dead after 15 mins on a treadmill......
Having 3 kids is enough of a work out.....Keep up the good work :-)

You have to work up to it.....I have never ran before....I found out I had asthma at age 12 so anything cardio I never did...I have been on a ventalator(SP) for 4 days becasue they thought my heart would give out if they kept trying to get me to breath...I have prayed the rosary waiting the ems to come get me thinking I was dying of an attack at 5 months prego up north...20 miles fron the hospital and other misc event.....so when I started it was one min I could run....one minute. now I m 3 miles....just work on increasing it.....I think the reason I fell in love with running is the challange it creates for me personally. I amaze my self everytime. Where to someone else it is nothing but for me it is a HUGE step.....To finish my first race running was amazing to me.....for a kid that couldn't do anything do to my asthma...and to so that at 40...Im amazed really I am....

Yeah I need to do that....When I get my strength I only do weights, which yes helped me get in great shape, but need the cardio for my 40 yr old heart..It's time!
I will keep reading your log for motivation :-)

and you are motivating your kids as well! You are showing them that with hard work and determination everything is possible!

I hope so..I know they are learning that exercise is normal ....

Good for you Gymgurl! Especially dealing with asthma while running. 19 more days before your first 5k? Pretty exciting~ :verygood:

Im in their rooms just dumping crap out.....you should see it...two huge bags of junk....So Im taking a quick break and headed back up there......I have some fun plans for the hubby tonight... the wine is chillin

Aug 30th

Im going to go run the course tonight...the same one that I will be on for the 5K and just get a feel for it. Im having some leg issues and have been using alot of ice...I have had this pain in my achillies (SP) tendon....been there since May when I was doing spin. But it is worse this week, Im going to get some heel lifts today and see if that helps. They said it is less strain on the tendon....So off to shop shop shop lol no kids so I have some time to myself....

Good Morning! :coffee:

No kids! enjoy your day, I hope the pain goes away, take it easy on the course if you still have pain, blah, blah, blah, I know you know this.... :)

Smart plan, running the course. You won't have any surprises race day. Like holy hell, look at that hill!

You may want to get a massage if that tendon really is bothering you. Make sure you are stretching after your runs!

Hi guys will write more tomorrow...I have the stomach flu..........it started while i was out running last night...how fun it that...

Sept 2...

Oh i feel somewhat better today not sure what was wrong...I ran wed the 3.1 and Thursday I ran 2.5-3 and got sick so I took yesterday off....Im hoping to run tonight if my stomach is back to normal......

Good morning!

I remember when I first started running, and sometimes it still happens now, you stomach gets all wonky, my sister said it is cause you are moving around your insides???? I don't know???

Yea, that could be a good sign of a runner. Running until you puke your food out happens alot with runners who overexcert themselves. Make sure you have digested before you go out on the runs and HYDRATE yourself.

Sept 4.....

Okay looked at my stats from the start of the summer......nothing until the last two months but I am down 7 pounds and 5 inches.....not to bad...not to bad...feeling better today finally....yesterday I ran 2 miles and did 30 min on the eliptical.....tonight I am going out to run the course again....

Congrats!! Glad to see the running going so well!! How's the knee holding up with it??

Sept 5....

No knee problems at all Jen...But I ice every time I run.....ran 3.1 miles last night very hard run. Did the course that I will at on the 16th and it is very very hilly. It starts on a gradual hill for 1.8 miles and then goes to path that is very very hilly and some steep hills....so I think tomorrow I will run the last mile or so over and over to get the hill workout in. My endurance is still lacking on this course....not sure if it is my lungs or just lack of edurance. Im just going to keep a pushin........I have been taking coreceps which is a mushroom that helps with lung function and edurance...Haven't noticed anything yet lol

sept 6th..

Okay kids are back in school...so some serious training and eating comming up....Also picked a new goal for next week when my race is done..I'm going to so the indoor tri at work....It is run 3.1 miles, bike 10 miles and swin 1/2 mile. Now here is the funny thing...I have to learn to swim lololol.....I personal train the swim director....SO ..she is going to reteach me to swim lol....how about that goal lol...Im losing my mind I know it....

Gymgurl said:
Question of the day.....how do you train for all three events.....

I can ask my sister she does tris. I know she bikes to work and swims at the Y, but as far as how she gages everything... I will ask her today. I am sure though someone might get back to you sooner.

Apparently it isn't too difficult to learn!! ;)

I DID ITI DID IT

I ran my entire run without stopping ..the whole freaking thing.........

YAYAYAYAYAYAYA MEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Sept 7th....

Okay as you can see I am very very proud of myself...I was having two major problems...at about a mile I had to stop real qucik and tak in some deep breaths and then begin running again and also getting a really sick feeling after about the first 1/2 mile. So a lady that I know at the gym told me that I was breaething wrong. She said I had more then enough muscle to do the run so it is my breathing....showed me what to do (she used to run marathons).....AND IT FREAKIN WORKED!!!!

Also I had to sign up for yet another race lol...There is a girl that goes to our church who is ONLY 12 and has ovarian cancer.....so they are raising money to help her family out...SO you can split events with someone and my friend who is organizing it asked if I would run and walk and her hubby would ride the bike and I said yes....but that is nothing different then what I am training for now.....

Yesterday I ran the course for this next race but went backwards up the hills and then back down....I am sooooo proud of myself.....

Yah think your tired??? hmmmm I am not sure why LOL.

Don't think you stink! The fact that your doing it means you don't!
Focus young jedi!!!!!!!

Focus is right!!!! You acn try touching your arm pit (sounds yuck) with thumb as your arm is coming out of the water , that helps with technique, and also when you touch hand in front with other hand, "catch up" helps with the gliding...
i am sure your trainer will help you!!! Do not give up!

FLO...your right..that was the thing he had me do..run my thumb up to my arm pit

Hey can I change my screen name to the little mermaid LOLOL

Sept 10th....

Eek sorry to har about the injury, sounds painful :(

Sept 13th...( I think)

Morning all....my daughter cracked her wrist so they put another cast on for 4 weeks...so took care of all of that yesterday....ran 3.0 miles on Monday...planning to run today and then I am done until Saturday which is my 5K....trying to drink alot of water ths week so I will be some more hydrated then normal...My water intake has really declined in the past month or so....So I am focusing on that this week....

so as for training.....

Run today and maybe a short non-taxing run tomorrow and then rest.....hitting the race early this time so I can warm up better and calm those icky nerves I seem to get...feel much better going in this time even though the course is much harder then the last run.
