OK, I think (hope/pray) that I may be able to hit the gym regularly. I just moved to a new place and one of the guys in the building is a coworker who has made it clear that I can use his truck any time so long as I put gas in it. I used it tonight and it felt great to hit the gym, despite being down in strength.
<rant> I had planned on having a car by now but the attorney who handled my DUI case threatened collection if I didn't have the fee payed in full by September. This couldn't have come at a worse time. I had my best friend's wedding (out of state, in which I was a groomsman), a new apartment to buy shit for and put a deposit on, and a lawyer who wanted his money NOW. So I'm broke again. But given the fact that the lawyer got me off on something that should have put me in jail and gotten my licence revoked, I can't be too upset with him. </rant>
Back to business....
Warmup: complex w/ the bar which consisted of OHP, GMs, and squats.
Push-press: 185x4x2
-This was the most humbling movement of the night. When I left off, I was strict OHP'ing 185 for submaximal sets of 5
Dips: BWx8, x15, x8
-The damn weight belt was missing its clasp, so I couldn't add on. I was gassed after the 15-repper, though it wasn't to failure.
Deads: worked up to two doubles w/405
-Pretty happy with these. Not ballbusters but still tough. I wanted to take it easy for these at first b/c I'm gonna be really sore if I don't.
Chins: BWx5, x4
-The first set was easy; the second was death
So I'm deconditioned and weak ATM. It'll come back fast and I intend to recomp in the meantime. The weirdest thing is that my appearance hasn't changed dramatically; I ate less because my appetite vanishes when I don't lift, and I lost ten pounds total (weighed in at 242 yesterday). I think I lost a little muscle and maybe even lost some fat too. In terms of a program, I'm not sure at this point what I want to do. I think I'll stick to the 5+ rep range and take it slow, a la SF 5x5 but with higher reps for now. We'll see...
