Oly Squats warmups, 275x5x5
-Not so much hard as awkward; my knees were wanting to come in and this weight should be easy.
Dips warmups, (BW+50)x5x5
-Again, not hard but not comfy either.
Chins BWx4x3
-same as above
I was gonna do some standing BTN presses as a cooldown/supplemental press, but I loaded 135 and struggled with a double . Then I did two sets of 20 decline situps and stretched. Felt GREAT to hit the gym. I bet I'll be back in the swing of things really soon.
I'll be going M-W-F. The plan is not set at the moment. I'm thinking that I'll change to sets of 8 for squats on mondays. I want to push deads, push-press, and chins for now.
I'll probably dead, bench and row wednesdays, then either box squat or front squat (depending on how the deads treat me) on fridays, followed by push-press and more chins. I think I'll work up to a moderate single on deads, then do some lighter rep work, and push it weekly til the moderate single becomes a heavy single . Push-press will be low-ish reps (probably no more than triples). Probably 8-ish reps on bench so I can hit p-p hard of friday.
This may be a little light on the squats, so I may throw fronts in on weds and do box/oly's on fridays. So some stuff is being played by ear for now. I wanna hit up WSB again once I feel like I'm a bit more up to speed. I'm jsut using this time as a 'bridge' to regain some strength and workload tolerance.
You could try BTNs with your warmups before squats.
Guinness, if you're going to start posting again please start a new journal. Every time I click on this one now I feel like I'm accessing the archives.
looks like a solid plan, give it a month or so and you'll be back to where you were and ready to try WSB. Getting the groove back sucks but before you know it it'll be PR time
Deads warmups, 385x1, 335x5
-Back felt a little funky during these. I think sitting on my ass for 10+ hours a day is the worst thing I've done to it so far. I was gonna do more work on the backoffs, but I figured it'd probably be best to ease into it for now. Hopefully next week there will be no funny stuff and I'll knock out some volume on these. Also, 385 felt heavier than 405 last week, so it's safe to say that my conditioning is way off (still ).
Bench warmups, 185x8x3
-Easy
Pendlay rows 185x5x5
-Easy. I am going to aim to keep these at teh same weight as my bench for now. I hope to be at 275 for both by week 4
Then I did some back extensions and stretched. I am gonna do as much ab work as possible in an effort to keep back discomfort at bay. I would have done some today but they're still kinda sore from monday, so for now I'll do 'em M/F.
EDIT: Belly measured 40.5" this morning. I'd like to see it in the sub-38" range shortly. My eating has been great lately - small frequent meals with good fat/carb choices. Learning how to cook has been a godsend because I am able make some stuff that tastes good and still fits inro a healthy eating plan. For example - mashed sweet potatoes w/ chipotle. Mmm, mmm.
