The whole cholesterol thing is a crock of shit. Over 50% of fatal MI's are patients with "perfect lipid numbers". You just don't want to get too high or too low. My numbers are perfect but that doesnt gaurantee shit.
A clean diet: High in protein. Moderate in fats, and carbs, and low in sugar
is the ticket for a lean body. I think the same applies to lipids which go up and down all the time. So take lipid supps on cycle to keep things reasonably level. And Statins are good insurance IMO

Hey bro where are you getting those numbers?

I also read a study a while back when I first graduated RN school about it is not the number of LDLs but the size. It is still unconclusive but they are doing more research on it.

Most cardiologists I have spoken to on this subject have different ideas on it but the say it is not your cholesterol that kills you its all the number together and genetics.

Right on ErRn. The size of the LDL particles is definitely a factor they consider valid. More and more credence is being placed on HDL numbers now as outweighing even "bad" LDL numbers.

I will agree with genetics as far as vascular disease, strokes, and MI's. But I don't believe genetics is to blame for jacked up cholesterol...or adult onset diabetes. I think the recommended diet of high carbohydrates and low fat - in addition to processed junk food - is squarely to blame for this. And it is a problem that the experts in our country have created over the last 50 some years.

To further the huge fuck up, they advise people to take statin drugs to lower their cholesterol and that has never been shown to reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke. Lipitor's claims to the contrary are bullshit.

Angioplasty is useless, Statins are dangerous, and stents are dangerous and begin to degrade in 6 months. Removing the plaque with something like Silver Hawk is a good option.

But for those that think that low fat is the way to live you are walking a tightrope.

The numbers are my bloodwork results. My Dr. says they are right on the money. You want high HDL and low LDL / trigs. /total chol.
You are right about genetics. That's the one area we can't do shit about.
