Food on the go/for a student

Hi all,

I recently started a degree course. It's great, but I'm struggling to eat.

For starters, I'm a computing student, so the majority of the time I am sat on my backside. Since I've started, lunch has consisted of sandwiches, wholemeal bread, meat and vegetables. But this is hardly food that's going to give you a transformation.

I could do with losing some body fat whilst retaining the tissue i've already got. Anyone in the same boat as me? I've thought of using protein shakes, but it's no substitute for real food, and as it is, my dinner hour is me working on a computer, food as an afterthought sneakily under the table!

It's not too much of a problem to prepare food before hand, but it's the fact I'm actually eating at a desk, sandwiches and things you can pick at seem the only good choice. HelP!

It's tough!

Get a cooler and carry it with you. I am forced to eat quite a bit of cold food on the go. Foods that work good cold (for me).... Rinsed Ground beef, Sirloin tip roast, skinless chicken thighs, green beans, yellow squash, zucchini. Almonds, walnuts, and cashews are all portable. Just make sure they are not roasted in oil. ANPB is a good choice. Olive oil is easy on the go too. My typical on the go menu looks like this...

(Meal 1) breakfast at home six whole omega 3 eggs, cheese, turkey sausage, low carb
tortillas, fish oil
(Meal 2) at work - 75g protein shake with olive oil/ANPB/nuts, fish oil
(Meal 3) Roast/Chicken/ground beef, green beans/zucchini/squash/asparagus, olive oil
or nuts, fish oil
(Meal 4) variation of meal 3
(meal 5) variation of meal 3
(meal 6) at home now
(meal 7) etc

I hope this did not confuse you. I eat meal two through five at work. Most of the time cold. My diet is low in carbs, but high in fats. You could easily use something similar to cut fat, but with the correct calories for you situation. I know eating cold food sucks, but sometimes you just have to man up and do it.

i see your a big fan of olive oil southernlord. as am i. do you put it on your tuna?

I have ate too much tuna. The best tuna I have found in Genova Tonno and it comes canned in olive oil. The all white Tonna is the shit. It is pricey though at $2.50 a can.

- Tuna & Salmon come in tear-open pouches and cans with pop tops.
- All-natural Peanut Butter and a spoon
- Protein shakes
- Nuts, Edamame, Flax seeds

Keeping a cooler in your car/truck is a good idea.
Your options expand greatly if you have refridgeration of some kind.
Yogurt & Cottage cheese are healthy cold foods that are quickly eaten.

You can cook chicken breasts & veggies, then freeze them in a ziploc or get a vacuum sealer and seal them then freeze them. Take them out in the morning, let them thaw & eat.

Soup & Jerky are high in sodium but easily eaten on the go (if you dont mild cold soup, i love it).

If you can keep it cold enough, 2 lbs of smoked salmon can be had from Sams for $13. High protein, Omega 3s and tasty stuff.
