FLAX SEED OIL - Is there any possible way to make this stuff taste decent?

~~~
New member
I recently bought flax seed and the feeling of eating it plain makes me want to throw up.. any suggestions on how to make this stuff taste any good. I know they work good with met-rx, i used to put 2 tablespoons in it, and it actually made it taste kind of better. But i need other recipes, please give me your input...!!!
protein shake! you dont even know its there besides being more full afterwards and it has a more filling taste.
throw fruit, milk, protein, flax seed oil and blend it up. pro/fat/carbs all in one.
It's probably rancid. Flaxseed oil goes rancid if you look at it wrong. I'm serious. And it's only good for a few weeks even refrigerated. And if you bought it unrefrigerated, I gaurantee it's rancid.
Fresh flaxseed oil has a very faint nutty taste. That's it. If yours has a strong taste, toss it.
About the only way you can be assured of getting fresh flaxseed oil is to buy the flaxseed itself. That way, when you put it into the coffee grinder, you get fresh oil since you can store the seeds easier than the pure oil.
Anyways, this is the reason why I don't take flaxseed oil anymore, just too much b.s. involved.
TAKE IT IN A CAPSULE!!! EITHER THAT OR MIX A LITTLE IN A SHAKE.
Two tabelspoons if flax seed oil. Add a heaping tablespoon of pure, unsweetened cocoa (~ 30 calories), and 3 packets of equal. Mix it up real well, throw it in the freezer for half an hour.
Instant dark chocolate.
SOUNDS LIKE A SPIFFY IDEA BUT DOES ANYONE WANT TO GO THROUGH THAT MUCH TROUBLE JUST FOR A TABLESPOON OF FLAX OIL?
uh...designate it 'external use only'???
no offense...why, though?
i mean do you also stick needles in your most sensitive members???
then why imbibe stuff that tastes that bad? I thought our taste buds served the useful evolutionary purpose of saying "this tastes awful - warning: DO NOT EAT"
:rolleyes:
what am i missing???
If it makes the stuff taste better, hell yeah.
And if you like chocolate, why not? :D
Flax oil comes with or without lignans, which are very fine particles of the flax seed.
Filtered out isn't as good for you, but looks like buttery olive oil.
The unfiltered (with lignans) has a stronger flavor you probably won't like till you're used to it.
I use it on cereal, cottage cheese, protein shakes,
and put it on toasted breads, bagels, etc... the way Italians put olive oil on bread.
I've been playing with the idea of using it in baked goods (replace Wesson oil in any recipe),
but not sure if all the "good stuff" would break down at 350 degree oven.
