If I absolutely had to pick one, I'd probably go with dbs. Little better range, more stablizer muscles involved. But I've been doing both for some time now.

I feel the same way as most of you. Dumbbells all the way!!!! Better use of stabilizers, better contractions, not to mention, you can go heavy and not worry about having a spotter there to save your ass. If need be, you just drop the dumbbells on the ground.

Dumbbells are definetly my favorite for chest. My only problem is I'm closing in on maxing out on the dumbbells my gym has (130 lbs) so I'll eventually have to move to barbbell pressing (even though it really bothers my shoulder) to increase weight beyond what the dumbbells can offer.

hard to answer..got to have both..if only one..the d/b's give a greater stretch and make you control the weight more, but obviously you can handle more weight on the barbell..

Db gets my vote. you get a fuller range of motion, and its more gentle on the wrists ( can you tell i have a history with bad wrists). but bar is solid to...do bb benchpress last on your chest day and you'll be hurting fo sho

I have read Barbells is better for mass, but without a spotter, I stick to dumbells most of the time. I have also been using a machine some, but the motion can be strange.

both.... lee haney did..... he had an ok chest..... dont you think?

FLAT BARBELL!!

i always do flat as a secondary exercise now with incline first, but i really enjoy flat bar, its great for power and really seems to finish off my chest

I used the barbell every chest workout of my life until last week.... when I switched to dumbbells because there was about six guys waiting to use the bench press.

And I really liked it.... I'll be doing them again next time.

Dumbell's give you a better strech I think, and the bar tends to put a lot of stress on my shoulders when I go heavy.

I cant bench the empty olympic bar for reps yet
so i use dumbbells for becnh press.
15lbs x6reps for 2sets.

I like the barbell for flat bench, it recrutis more motor units, and i feel it is better for power and size development. The dumbells seem to bother my shoulder, for some reason.
