first off i would like to say hello to everyone here this is my first post so a bit of history about myself. i wasn't really ever over weight until about the last 7 months and i gained it really fast. i havn't done anything but work (desk job now) eat, drink a lot of beer, and watch TV.
before this job i was in the army for 3 years when i got out of boot camp i was 200 lbs and had a lot of muscle. then after iraq i was all the way down to 175 lbs now after being out for 6 months im at 240lbs but the only place i am really fat is my gut and its HUGE. i have been reading a lot on the internet lately because its time for me to get back into shape and the army didn't really teach us how to do this the more less just made us run a lot and i was always doing manual labor jobs so i didn't have to worrie so much. any way when i eat i eat really really fast and i eat until i can't eat any more, no matter what it is i eat it and lots of it.

now here is my plan tell me what i need to fix or if it sounds good.
first off before i go too much into bulking up i need to loss weight (i belive)
im not planing on counting calories or anything like that just eat less fattie foods and more fruits and vegatables. and insend of eating 2 or 3 huge meals a day im going to eat 4 to 5 small healther meals a day and slow down when i eat them. im going to stop drinking soda and start to drink water. now im going to run/jog, mostly jog at first until i get faster on the treadmill for 30 min in the mourning after i wake up. then in cereal for breakfist then threw out the day eat a couple small meals at work then go home and lift a weights 3/4 times a week. now all i have for excersice equptment is a cheep bench from k mart that my dad got me years ago. not a hole lot of weight there so i figured i could just go a lot of reps, would that work for the first while?
well thats pretty much my plan to start out. can you guys please tell me when i need to add or take away from that or whats right or wrong? im just getting into this fitness stuff and eating right. i really have no idea whats good and bad to eat other then the fattie stuff and low fat stuff.

thanks,

joe

If you're really 70 lbs overweight then it doesn't much matter what you do provided you don't strain yourself by doing too much. Just make sure you do something with the weights to exert yourself every couple of days and give each bodypart a good 48 hours to recover before hitting it again. Let the muscle soreness guide you. The weight should melt away if you eat at all sensibly.

Try to walk/jog/run every day for 40-45 minutes and that bar on the bench can also be used for lots of other good exercises for your arms, back and legs. Don't forget to work your stomach muscles: front and sides.

My .02 cents, do this diet, run every day, 30-60mins, skip lifting on your kmart bench, get a job and join a gym. Spend bewteen now and March, saving for a membership and just doing cardio, and abs, You should drop 20-30 lbs, after that you can lift the weights,

If you dont plan on counting cals this isnt going to work, you need to get a feel for how many cals your eating, what your eating and when. Start looking at labels, look at fats, sugars, etc, Get a plan, get serious and do this

Get yourself the SouthBeach Diet Book. I know a lot of people who lost weight, and are keeping it off, in the last year just by following that book. One guy at my gym lost fifty pounds and that was before he started doing cardio. I'm not a diet guru by any means, but that's what I would do because I've seen the results. From what I understand it just takes a little getting used to eliminating the simple carbs (sugars).
