Figure/Fitness Model competitions

Hi to all!

I was very apprehensive to post here after seeing all the steroid use posts. I am totally against steroids after having a friend develop heart problems from using them. Sorry if this offends those who believe in steroids.

Right now, I am considering entering a competition. It is an ABA competition for Fitness Modeling. I cannot compete in fitness due to a bad knee and pretty much no formal gymnastics training. I am left with just standing there and looking good (he,he).

Is there anyone on here who has competed in these that can tell me:
1) Are these judged fairly or is it all politics (who you know)?
2) Do you keep the same hairstyle throughout all rounds? They don't allow hair people backstage and I am not a hair expert.
3) Use painted on tan or not?

Thanks for your help in advance.:spatts:

Icon use

Huh? I am confused. I simply picked from what was available in the smilies list. Is this icon "owned"?

Until I get a digital camera, I cannot post my own so this one looked pretty cute!

Sorry if I duplicated someone elses icon. Not my intent. :)

If you look at the defination of the "Icon" is say's Spatts....
Spatt's is pretty cute though....
I was just kidding around with ya StrivetoDefine..

Welcome to the boards, and don't be paranoid about posting. While steroids might be discussed, not everyone uses them, nor is anyone encouraged to use them. The majority of the posts on here aren't even steroid-related.

I don't compete, but many on the board do. If you don't get many replies, try the Search button, as similar topics have come up before.

Welcome to the boards! I compete in figure for NABBA and WFF, but not ABA, so I can't really help you there. What kind of rounds does ABA have? Do you have to do a posing routine or is it like NPC where you just do quarter turns?

Don't worry about steriod use posts, you don't HAVE to take them! :) Everybody here is free to make their own decisions based off what they feel is good for them. Goes both ways though, those who use don't judge those who don't, while those who don't use don't judge those who do use! :)

I've never competed either, but I do know that the entire fitness industry is based off politics. Read the posts on HBG - she LOOKS like she should have won, but didn't - probably because it was her first show. Check out the pictures for the Arnold Figure show. There are no real clear guidelines on what judges are looking for on Figure.

Definately use painted on tan. Those lights are harsh and wil lwash you out. Hair styles I don't know about!

Welcome!

Is ABA the one with two rounds? one with a two piece and one with an evening gown? i think you can do whatever you want with your hair...there's no reason it couldn't be the same both rounds so you could get it done before the evening rounds if you're worried about it. i did a couple of fitness modeling competitions and they let people backstage but only one girl had a hairdresser.

i think a lot of fitness/figure competitions are political...even in the pros. i personally don't think susie curry should have won the olympia these past three years but she always does.

and yes, i would use a painted on tan. i would try it out a few days before the competition just to make sure it turns out okay.

but all this is just my opinion so take it for what it's worth :)
