erector injury

New member
Hey all, my spinal erectors have been hurting for about the past 2wks and dont seem to be getting better, but VERY slowly. Only thing that seems to help is rubbing absorbine (liniment for horses) on my lower back. I dont know if they got hurt from deadlifts or squats but it was one of those. Anyone have any clues as how to speed up recovery? Thanks in advance.

I have never done them, but I woud imagine reverse hypers would rehab your back pretty quickly. this is the one exercise I would love to do, provided I had the right equip.

Good advice...

Rev hypers
Full range sit-ups (use assistance if you need to, or just slow negatives)
Train your hams hard
Anti Inflammatories
Stretch
Observe your form on squats or deads.

Many powerlifters do not do squats and deads in the same week because they use a lot of the same muscles...

Find the problem and focus on it. Lower or upper erectors? What kind of pain?

hey guys, thanks for the replies.

Not sure if its the lower or uppers, but im guessing the uppers (its about 6in above top of me crack). Its kind of a dull pain that impedes bending over very far. The pain is just in the uppers while sitting but when i bend over it seems to hurt from the tailbone up to where i described earlier in post. Can you tell anything else from the location/quality of pain I described?

Guess I'll get on those full range situps seeing as thats all I can do right now....

If it hurts...see a doctor. See advice.

When my back is sore...I take a towel and tie it to something in front of me so I can help to pull myself up in a super slow full range sit-up. I then lower myself down as slow as possible. Not for sure how...but it aligns the spine. It just seems to relieve my back pain. I rarely do more than 2-5 slow reps at a time...a few times a day.

See a doc man...

try getting a warm massage from a girl to help you rback sometimes the muscle suffer microtears and they tense up a lot, sdo whn yoiu use them they start to rip again and hurt, getting a massage helps loosin the muscle out of spam and allows for full extension and proper healing..... Just my 2 pennies....

a pretty ingenius way to stretch the lower back actually. the lower back is hard to stretch for some. thats a good "idear". :)

At first glance I thought it said erectile injurie :D

Anyway you could try using one of those phome things that people usualy use in the pool to beat the shit out of each other with. I don't remeber what its called. Anyway lay on it for about 3-5 minutes before you work out. Yes it sounds strange but works well for me. At first it is uncomfortable but you get used to it and it gives a great stretch.

welp, just made a dr. appointment.....we'll see whats wrong today (hopefully)...thanks for all the responses guys
