Dietary fat, zone vs keto diet

On an equal amount of calories, is it that bad to follow a zone 40-30-30 diet vs a CKD?

Also, what have peoples experiences been when increasing dietary fat? Does it really help with feeling satisfied? I'm currently eating a low fat diet, and am hungry all the time, despite eating a lot of fiber and protein.

eating a hi fat diet will burn alot of fat and the foods are filling

Let's say, I eat 400 cals from fat and go to the gym. I'll be burning dietary fat that I just ate before gym, not bodyfat. Is that correct? And another question, how come before gym I do Ketostix test and I show more ketones before gym than after? Anyone can explain the whole prosses of burning BF vs. Dietary fat and amount of ketones increasing and decreasing. Thanx

Increasing dietary fat intake was the best diet decesion I've ever made. I use to strive to eat low fat. My total fat calories probably were 10% or so,maybe 15%, and very low saturated fat. So I switched to a higher fat diet, Right now I'm at the isocaloric range. I feel more anabolism and less fat storage while on this kind of diet. For even lower fat storage, I like to totally eliminate any kind of processed carbs, anything that isn't extremely low GI, I won't eat. With exception to my post workout meal, that is the only time I eat those kind of carbs. Doing this, sometimes your carbs will be around 25% , unless you eat a very big post workout meal. I try to keep saturated fat intake to a modest amount in hope I won't lower test. The low fat diet I use to follow yielded less muscle gains and more fat storage, and I also often felt weak. During that diet, I would feel like I needed to eat a high fat meal before my workout. Now, while of the isocaloric diet, I can workout almost any time of the day-- I don't need a "boost" type of preworkout meal.

Confession of a keto dieter.
I started out 248 and over 39%bf, then eventually went to a CKD ended up at 191 and under 12%bf. I claim no expertise here just my observations. Now 3 years later I gained back 30lbs due to hard personal times. So what to do?

I tried the low fat/low carb/high protein diet and got sick! Then did low fat high protein and carbs but was very unsatisfied. The fat is key. I can't seem to stay on that type of deal.

I claim no special knowledge but here goes.....
Ketones are burned as fuel so it stands to reason your reading after the workout is trace or negative, this is good.
Ketostixs reading will vary, time of day, feeding times, the stixs themselves. I gave up on them. You can feel it, the breath and all. Ketone readings of negative could mean your burning them efficiently, and as I've read it is not uncommon for some to test pink once entering ketosis and then test negative but still be in a ketogenic state. So I now eat bacon and eggs before I go lift, on cardio day I go empty. As long as I'm in ketosis all is well body fat is burning. (Note in Body Opus Dan commented on eating fat after the work out, take a look.)

Ketogenic diet is just that, if go, you got to go all the way! Low carb just won't cut it. Ketosis is above all the goal and your friend.

Dietary fat is key!! Dietary fat on a keto diet fosters this process of converting body fat to ketones. As Atkins and the Protein Power doctors note most often people on these diets actually improve on their blood tests results. Good fats like Alpha LIPOIC Acid foster the production of good Eicosanoids (there are bad ones too) these are hormones that help lower cholesterol and do other cool things. As you get older Alpha LINOLEIC Acid screws this up by fostering the bad eicosanoids. So flaxseed oil with LINOLEIC acid is not necessarily a good thing. 40-30-30 zone, and the low carb diets all claim to foster production of good eicosanoids. Proper fat/protein ratio and the right types of fat make the whole thing fly.

(I would like to see more info on 30-30-40 and body building. )

Hope this helps some...
