Diet and Training while Traveling

Hey Everyone,
I am leaving for Italy for 4 months in a couple days and want to maintain my diet and training while there. Anyone have any good suggestions?

Hopefully I can find a gym there, but I have no idea what to expect. I am hoping to get so protein shipped to me.

I'd love to hear any ideas.

Also, my boyfriend is planning on coming to visit it the midst of training for his first competition. Help!

Thanks!

For more useful responses, you might want to tell us WHERE in italy you'll be going - if you're staying in a hotel or in a home, etc.

Whenever I travel, I always make sure I bring some resistance bands with me just in case i can't find a gym. I know they're not as good as having weights available but at least I have something. You can get some pretty heavy resistance in them as well. Have a great trip!

ahh yeah, details might help!

I am going to Florence, Italy to study architecture for 4 months. I am living in an apartment with 5 other girls. I really have no idea where to get food, or if there is a gym near by.

I have ordered a pilates dvd (no tv, but taking my laptop that has a dvd player), and I got an exercise ball, and resistance bands for christmas. So I am planning on taking those.

Any other ideas?

What about a really good pair of running shoes? Agility work is a lot of fun and very challenging.

If you are really in a bind, your basic push-ups/sit-ups/chin-ups are easy to implement where ever you go. Even some basic equipment can go a long way. A few dumbbells can do wonders...although I definitely enjoy moving more weight than what dumbbells can offer.

Florence is a big city, so it will be easy to find supermarkets with a wide variety of food, specialized shops where you can get your flaxseed oil etc., and gyms of course. Perhaps university even offers you cheap training; most do! Why not have a look at their site, probably you can find something there. And if you can read some Italian, try looking for gyms in the area with Google. Good luck!
