Deadlifting my way to Happiness - Al420's log

Todays workout - First Pressing in 3+ weeks:

CGBP (14" apart - I measured.): 95x10, 135x5, 155x5, 175x5, 185x5

BTN PP: 95x5, 135x5x3

Seated DB Military: 40's x8, 50'sx8, 70's x8x2

Machine Incline Press: 80x8x3

Shoulder felt fine. I did a set of regular gip flat bench and it hurt a bit so I switched to close grip. I am a little weaker here as I never do them but they felt great.

Push presses felt ok - I was worried on my first set/rep w/ 135 (I know CS, to big of a jump). Wasn't sure if I was going to get it up, but as most of you know the weight flys up on these so it was cake. I was doing these int he past in damn near a snatch grip as my shoulder flesability has lacked. Just from stretching these past few weeks i can now get in one full ring so my hands are almost above my shoulders - this is a much stronger position!

DB's were heavy to get up but easy to press (70's) so they were deep explosive and scary to witness (so said a guy behind me.. "that's scary") - I may have let out a small yelp on the final set but otherwise... I think I will do these in my upcoming 5x5 b/c I want to press the 100's.

Left groin is a bit off from yesterday but it will be fine - I think one heavy and one light session for squats for one more week then I can rip on something w/ a little more teeth.

Good to hear on the shoulders ;)

lol, I'd be concerned if the jump from 95 to 135 caused any problems. Big jumps are more of a problem on later warm-ups and going from warm-ups to work sets, not on trivially light sets. Great to hear the shoulder feels good.

On that BTN press are you standing? I'm going to max seated tomorrow. I have been using the smith machine and I need to get away from it. What is the best way to get the fucking bar off the rack. Anything over 250 lbs. takes all I've got to just get it into position and sometimes it feels like I'm going to hurt something. Any ideas or tech. you've heard of that might help??? By the way.........you are a stupid idiot for measuring that CGBP silly!

The BTN press is a Push Press so it goes like this:

1.get under the bar like I'm going to back squat it
2.do a sissy squat - then
3.explode up driving the weight up as you drive up your legs
4. lock out
5. bring back down to traps, but dip back into a sissy squat as this makes your traps receive the bar instead of your spine - I can show you next time your in towm - or better yet: http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/OlympicLifts/PushPressBehindNeck.html

You've lost me there......I'm going to be doing this seated not standing.

Todays workout:

Deadlift: 135x10, 225x5, 315x5, 365x5x3

HS Seated Row: 4 plates x10, 6 plates x10x2

Rear Delt DB Row: 25'sx15x3

EZ Bar Curl: 45x8, 65x8, 85x8x3

CG Pull Downs: 145x8, 175x8x2 - went over to a "free motion" machine and did one addtl drop set just to maintain my :rainbow: 'ness

I had Cleans on the brain but thought I would do them after I DL'd - bad idea. I would have had to wait 10 minutes or so. I need to work on my endurance - the Oly lifts are no bullshit.
