Deadlifting my way to Happiness - Al420's log

Fridays workout:

Box Squat: 135x8, 185x5, 225x5, 275x5, 295x5, 315x3x3 - groin is still a bit off

SLDL: 135x10, 185x5, 225x5, 275x12, 315x9 - wraped in for 275+

Did some leg ext and some leg curls as well. No lifting till Tuesday as the gym is closed today and tomorrow. Getting in plenty of cals!
 
Todays workout:

Deadlift: 135x10, 185x5, 225x5, 275x5, 315x5, 365x5, 405x3 - just couldn't get into it. I hate my gym, it is a fucking ghost town.

Clean Pulls: 135x10, 185x5x5

GP Row: 135x12x5 - exausting

HS Seated Row: 4 plates x12, 6 plates x10x2

I really enjoy the Oly lifts/assistance lifts. I enjoy the speed and am looking forward to learning the squat clean and snatch clean this year.

Shoulder is geting better. It missed daily rehab - gym was closed for 2 days. Got all over it today - light weight w/ strict ROM then heavy speed work - bet I get in 1x pressing sessions this week and next and by week 3 am back to 2x.
 
lol... ghost town? I'm annoyed with there's 1 other dude in MY weight room taking up MY air :chomp: LOL!

As much as I hate that place, I love the freedom I have to do whatever the hell i want and be as loud as I want, throw DB's ect. Good times.

Todays workout:

Back Squat: 135x10, 225x5, 315x5x3

Front Squat: 135x5x3, 185x5x2, 225x1 - all held w/ Clean grip :chomp:

GM: 95x10, 135x5x2, 185x5x2 - need to check my depth on 185 b/c it was hard as shit

Did some lying leg curls and hit the road.

Groin is feeling great. The back squats felt great - best cadance I have had w/ 315 ever. Down real deep nice and quick and explosive on the way up. Maybe it was laying off for 2 week and doing boxes instead - who knows.

Front squats were explosive as hell. I have been watching tons of Oly vids on Youtube and Glenn P's website (you have to see how fast his kids are and super explosive) and they have me getting into the hole much quicker. I am getting fast...I think.

I will be PRESSING tomorrow - hell yeah!
 
Todays workout - First Pressing in 3+ weeks:

CGBP (14" apart - I measured.): 95x10, 135x5, 155x5, 175x5, 185x5

BTN PP: 95x5, 135x5x3

Seated DB Military: 40's x8, 50'sx8, 70's x8x2

Machine Incline Press: 80x8x3

Shoulder felt fine. I did a set of regular gip flat bench and it hurt a bit so I switched to close grip. I am a little weaker here as I never do them but they felt great.

Push presses felt ok - I was worried on my first set/rep w/ 135 (I know CS, to big of a jump). Wasn't sure if I was going to get it up, but as most of you know the weight flys up on these so it was cake. I was doing these int he past in damn near a snatch grip as my shoulder flesability has lacked. Just from stretching these past few weeks i can now get in one full ring so my hands are almost above my shoulders - this is a much stronger position!

DB's were heavy to get up but easy to press (70's) so they were deep explosive and scary to witness (so said a guy behind me.. "that's scary") - I may have let out a small yelp on the final set but otherwise... I think I will do these in my upcoming 5x5 b/c I want to press the 100's.

Left groin is a bit off from yesterday but it will be fine - I think one heavy and one light session for squats for one more week then I can rip on something w/ a little more teeth.

lol @ measuring your close grip :p ... as long as it's directly outstreched arms, where your hands grab the bar it's good to go. Tucked elbows into lats felt good with the form? May feel akward for a few weeks... 'specially cuz your fresh back into pressing, period.

Quality... the closer grip on the PP's should serve you very well and help with lockout.

100lb DB's OH will be impressive :evil:
