Deadlift Owee

I have been trying to go in weight on deadlifts, and have been having trouble with a sore back the next day. I asked a local powerlifting coach for help. He helped me correct some problems, mostly I needed to keep my weight over my heels more. Yesterday he watched me do a couple sets, pronounced my form perfect, and went back to his own workout. I was feeling good so I put on two more ten pound plates. Mistake. I did three pulls and right away my back hurt. I stretched, took two Advil and put on ice, but it really hurts. I’m pretty sure it’s just a muscle, it’s pretty far on the left, starting at the top of my pelvis and going up to about navel level. My spine feels fine. I’m taking Advil and using a menthol rub and Traumeal, and trying not to stay in one position too long. I figure deads are out for a few weeks and ixnay on going up in weight, but I hope to go kayaking next weekend. Any suggestions?

def lay off the deads for a bit. stick with some stable back work if you are going to do some. rows and pulldowns that dont require your back too much for the time being.

best bet is to keep the motrin flowing. maybe some contrasting (hot cold) showers. hit a massage if you can or roll out on a foam roll. stretching will be your friend in a few days.

did this a few days ago...so i know.
