days of cramps from PMS

This has put a real damper on my goals. I'm 34 years old and have been training for almost 20 years, never missed a workout. now that I am in my 30's i've started getting worse and worse PMS symptoms. what are some good strategies for dealing with this? foods? also do you think working out while going through it helps or hurts the issue?
 
I will only give the same advice when anyone is feeling sick or has a minor injury. That is to take a day off if you are not going to be able to go hard. Your body likely needs the down time too.
