Caseinate vs. Casein...huh?

Notice the $5.95/lb. for the Calcium Caseinate, as opposed to the $12.95/lb. and $10.95/lb. for the hydrolyzed casein and the micellar caseins, respectively?

What the hell is the major difference? If I were to buy the cheaper caseinate to use before bed-time and as a protein for my shakes during the day, would it work just as well? Or, well enough?

Would is sustain me with a positive nitrogen balance and AAs in the blood for 3-4 hours (time between a meal)?

I ask because the prices for the latter proteins are insane, and to me they all seem to be relatively equal. I mean, they're casein proteins, which will digest slower. Maybe the others are better, but it has to be so minute. Kind've like the difference between whey concentrate and isolate.

Any input on this would be good. I searched for info on casein, but nothing comes up with "caseinate" and I don't get why they change the name.

They're just trying to confuse me. :worried:
