cardio???

So I'm wondering what it the best way to incorporate cardio into my routine. I like to do at least 45 minutes of running or elliptical machine, but whats the best way to do it? I lift weights at least 3-4 days a week so is it best to do cardio before weights, after or should you separate and do cardio on off weight days by itself?? I feel I have been neglecting my cardio but often feel too spent on days I lift to throw the cardio into the mix. How and when should I fit it in?

Personally I like to do cardio in the morning and weights in the evening, but if I don't have time to split it up like that I'll do cardio AFTER weights so I'm not lifting with fatigued muscles.

Yes, AM is great and if you can't do it AFTER you workout. As your WO will suffer from lost glycogen in muscles.

Everything considered, it's probably best to do your cardio on workout days and separate it from lifting by at least a few meals and several hours. This will keep your rest days truly restful and give your body time to recover.

In a perefect world it would be ideal to do your cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. If this doesn't work for you time wise then you could do it after your lifting

I do it after lifting and in the morning on non-lifting days. I use HIIT cardio 30 sec sprints then 3min moderate. 45 mins 3-4x per week.Works great!

Thanks for all the advice, I sometimes feel I neglect my cardio. It's time to step it up a notch. I lift with my boyfriend and he pushes me real hard, after a hard lifting session I feel I have no energy to run. I suppose I should get up first thing in the AM and go for my run outside instead of trying to hit the treadmill at the gym. That is probably the only way to break up my workouts, having kids makes it hard to get to the gym twice a day.

IMO, maybe lighter AM cardio on lifting days separated by a few solid hours/meals OR get the weight workouts down to three days and just alternate cardio/lifting days with a day of rest. You can get very good results that way.

I dunno 'bout ya'll, but some days after lifting I'm doing damned good if I can climb the stairs to get from the basement to the living room much less even consider doing cardio afterwards
