Cardio questions

I am just trying to burn a little fat off and turn my 4 pack to a 6 pack and was talking to a trainer who told me to do cardio 3 times a week but not letting my heart rate get above 140 for a total of 40 minutes. Is this correct? im 23, 5 9 195
 
it all depends on how much fat you want to lose... I would do low intensity long duration cardio 4-5 times per week, in the morning preferably..

low intensity would be walking at 3.5mph @15degree incline for 30 minutes, then running at 6-7mph for 10-15 minutes at 0degree incline... This will make your carb:fat ratio more towards fat. So you will be burning fat rather than carbs
