cardio question

Hey guys i was just wondering if there is a point of overkill with doing cardio... i know with weights it becomes unproductive to keep doing endless sets without rest cause you will never grow that way but if you do a lot of cardio in a day say 2 or more hours do you stop burning fat or will you just get that much better results .........(major muscle loss accounted for as a drawback)

If you're doing 2 hours a day, you'll lose muscle, no questions asked. You shouldn't need any more than 30 minutes 3-4 times per week. If you want to look like a runner, then run, if you want to look like a weightlifter then lift weights.

Too many people overdo the cardio thing and don't realise that they are eating into muscle in most cases. People are overcompensating for the fact they let themselves get too fat during their 'bulking' phases and then overdo the cardio thing.

Mange your weight/fat with diet, and supplement that with cardio. Cardio should not be your main means of weight/fat control.

If you're on steroids it's not as crucial, as steroids have an anti-catabolic effect.

Once and a while it might be a good thing. I have heard of people doing these types of things to confuse your body and send it into fat burning shock, dont exactly qoute me because I just heard it from somebody. 30 to 40 minutes of cardio at high intensity would be much better than 2 hours of low or medium intensity. I dont think most people could do 2 hours of str8 decent intensity cardio, that would be like hell or like listening to fran drescher or both.

It depends on your goals.
Mine is to increase my Cardio health, Gain Strength and Lose or Maintain Fat %. In that order...

I do a 15 Min cardio warmup due to the fact that I'm lifting at 05:30am
Then I lift, and then if I can I do another 30 min after.

Every Wednesday I do a heavy cardio day and ABS by doing 60 Min straight cardio, heavy Abs and then another 30 Min after heavy Abs.

Ahem! I think 2-3 days a week of cardio for 30-45min max is more than enough cardio to stay somewhat lean.

You'll need to specify your goals for a better answer.

From what I've experienced the best way to do cardio without destroyed a lot of the hard-earned muscle is to not overdo it all at once, but to be consistent and with moderation. Nobody ever gained 15 lbs in a week lifting hard, and nobody is gonna loose a lot of fat that fast - no matter how intense the cardio is. It takes some time to safely/effectively loose fat. I always focus more on dieting than cardio anyways. -Just my 2 cents

like all things this shit is individual. I personally would never do longer than 45 minute sessions. But you hear the pros talk about 2 sessions a day, of 1 hour. That would just kill me.
