Can't Do Real Squats

hmmm, cant make a video. but next leg day ill def try 155 and 185. im thinkin it is my core, i have a strong chest/upper back, but my lower back is pretty weak. my abs are very strong though too.

Yeah, bro.....there are A LOT of numbers that come between 135 and 225, take advantage of them.....nobody should be making whole plate jumps, unless they are blowing through warm-ups......and leg press is okay for assistance or a change here and there, but like Spatts said, it has ZERO carry-over to squats......I leg pressed today for shits and giggles after I deadlifted and my last set was 1,100 for 8 easy reps, knees burried in my chest, if I could squat that, I'd be a husehold name......just squat and be patient and take advantage of the 90 other numbers that come between 135 and 225.

Right now I've started at 135 and I'm adding 10lbs each time I squat. I'm doing 5x5 easily and just building up. Like you, I've done minimal leg work of late and am getting over injuries. Just take it slow and hang in there.

Forget about the amount of weight on the bar with the exception that you are adding weight each workout . Just get your form perfect and make sure you go low. Before you know it, you'll be squatting big numbers.

I've got very long legs for my 5'8 frame. You should see how short my torso is compared to my legs. My hips are up underneath my armpits. No excuses. You've got to squat :)

I felt the same way when i changed from smith squats to real squats. Just when i hit parallel i had serious trouble getting it up. So i went down to 155 and started working my way up again. I did some very light ass to floor squats to get that extra strength i needed when going parallel.

Its embarrassing, i know :)

So what's wrong with 185?!?!?

Or even 135-->155-->185

I've honestly never heard of anyone only making whole plate jumps before.

Can you produce a vid of your squat? I'd bet money your knees are coming in.

Perhaps your CORE can't handle 225.

Ditto. You work with what weight you can lift in perfect form. It doesn't matter what the number is.

If you can't handle 225lbs yet... that doesn't mean you can't squat. It means you can't handle 225lbs yet.
