tell me what negative affect meal #1 has other than water retention as apposed to meal #2. same amount of carbs fiber protein and fat in each meal.

#1- roast beef and kolby sharp cheese with fresh spinach in the sandwich on a sour dough roll.

#2- steak with brown rice.

meal 2 probably has higher quality protein

meal 1 has some slower released protein, i.e. the cheeze...the dough would mean some bad carbs I suppose

and meal 2 has greater complex carbs from the brown rice...
meal 1 lots of vits. a,b,c you name it and spinach has it

brown rice is probably a better source but sour dough bread is also a 100% complex carb. that is why i use sour dough over whole grain breads the 99% of the whole grain breads are half simple carbs. ezekeal bread is the exeption it is 100% whole grain and imo is better than brown rice.

If it's a bulking meal, who cares?

If you're trying to bulk, does fat matter so much to you? That's a question you need to determine. If you still want to stay lean, go with #2 as it seems it would keep your blood sugar at a medium stable level, thus minimizing fat deposition.

Oh, and in high school I worked in a bakery. Most sourdough bread is not a complex carb flour. They use a variant the same bleached white flour. Not whole grain flour.

Where do you buy Ezekiel bread? None of my local grocers carry it. I would like to try it, but the nearest whole foods/high end grocery store is about 30 miles away.

some super market chains carry it. i think acme does. it is kept frozen. it is not with the breads. i buy it in an organics market.

sour dough converts to a complex carb source in the process of baking. i know its odd but it is true.

i personally am confident that they are both equally good providing you get your coloric needs. from time to time when discussing diet people think i am crazy.
