body fat and birth control

I started seriously dieting and exercising a few months ago... I have lost at least 3% body fat during this time. I have also been on orthotricyclen for 2 years, without any problems...until lately. My period has come a week early(when i'm still taking active pills) twice in the past 3 months. It lasts at least 7 days when it does this. Would this have anything to do with decreased body fat? and has anyone else experienced anything similar?

I don't know if it could be the cause -- but I never had that problem when I lost weight and was on it - alot of weight like 20 pounds.

I will tell you that it is a very dose sensitive pill. Both that and ortho-cept ==in my experience when taken even a hour late, caused my period to come early -- mind you this was not breakthrough bleeding - -just early.

I had not taken into consideration the time change on holiday and took my pill at the regular 11 p.m. time -- when it was really midnight.....never thought much about why the period came early. Well -- a few months later I took my pill late - same result. When I presented this to the ob/gyn -- she said the lower dosed pills are quite sensitive to when you take them.

Could you have taken your pill later than usual on occasion?

That's a good point..and definitely a possibility. The only thing is, I was never really good about taking my pill at the same exact time everyday and never had any problems until now. I am gonna try to be more consistent now though and hopefully that will solve my problem. Thanx
