Blood Glucose and Ketosis

Does anyone know . . . how low does your blood glucose level have to drop before you start producing ketones (i.e. go into ketosis)?

I'm not sure but the blood itself only carries 1 to 1.5 grams of carbs. except of course the liver easily replenishes it.

Both glucagon and epinephrine kick in within minutes of hypoglycemia at levels of glucose 65-70 mg/dl. Epinephrine is what stimulates hepatic glucose production and activates production of alternate fuels (lipolysis, free fatty acid production, etc).
