As long as you are in an energy deficit, taking in carbs or anything is ok. The need for nutrients and digestive system do not stop at some certain witching hour. It becomes an issue only when in an energy surplus.
If you are bulking you should be having carbs at night. i like to have oatmeal cuz its complex and has alot of fiber! some people will eat pop tarts too spike ther insulin at night too but i dont do that.
I would think this much better and more sensible in the morning. Natural cortisol cycle is low at night and high in the morning. Insulin shuts off cortisol.
