Lets talk about this....

I've had GREAT success doing Skullcrushers, they made my tri's huge and crazy strong. But I have given them up because my tendons don't like them. Lately i've been trying some different things, but I just cannot get the pump that skullcrushers gave me. I hit dips HARD, I do single tricep cable extensions, and also closed-grip bench. I feel somewhat of a pump, but nothing like the skullcrushers.....Shoot some opinions/experiences. Later dudes!

I think pin lockouts

I've done skullcrushers, pushdowns and french presses for two years. Didn't do anything for my triceps.. they didn't increase in size nor strength. I had the soreness, had the pump, but nothing would happen. I never thought that a partial pin press near lockout with elbows tucked in can be such a great tricep exercise, so great that you can actually lock-out 315 lbs instead of 100 lbs on skull crushers. Plus you get to increase your bench by doing pin-presses, since you are training for specificity.

2,3,4,5 Board Presses and rack lockouts. My triceps have become noticely bigger in 3 weeks from those. And like revrev says, it helps ya lockout the bench.

I never got much out of pushdowns and skull crushers.
 
Never felt it on close gripped. Elbows would always flare out, and when I consciously tried to keep them in, or tried to use less weight, all the stress would go on my delts and my chest. If it works for you, then why not do it? If it hurts you, or gives you no results, then drop it! Seems simple
