Microsoft's move to a more closed approach has ruffled the feathers of many consumers, developers and analysts. The Windows platform has always been known to be open to some degree, but the recent inclusion of the company's own storefront within Windows 8 has led many to believe Microsoft may be more controlling as to what is introduced to the new platform, much like the way it regulates Xbox Live.

Oh shit. So what will this mean for the free form nature of upgrading PC hardware, as for gaming and quick, efficient fixes and customization?
Sometimes it really irks me how restricted everything is getting.
For example, I used to be able to simply go to Youtube on PS3 like my PC until about a month ago, when they replaced it with a fucking App. This App is mean to work better with a console but it's actually more work period. You have to enter a code-
Only thing is, it has to be done on another device because if you exit and try in the PS3 browser it will sign you in but not for the app. And then once you're finally signed in, the login screen says "You are signed in as so and so" options are Cancel or OK. Hit OK and it signs you out and you have to go through the whole damn thing again. Ridiculous seeing as how the normal browser version worked just as well as on my PC's browser, other than using a gamepad to navigate. This app doesn't even have a tab for my Favorites, although apparently it's there for other users. It has Recently Watched and all this other stuff that youtube normally doesn't have, but for some reason my version's Favorites is MIA.
A lot of other people reported it being choppy. I know it doesn't work as smoothly as the normal browser version did for me.
Same thing for my phone's youtube app. Hell most of the internet-based apps I've ever gotten aren't worth a shit next to the normal way of accessing content.
