BA% and BB%

I am new to the forums so not sure if this is the right place to be asking. Anyways i'm thinking about homebrewing and have done much research. One thing i'm a little hazy on is how you go about figuring out what percentage ba and bb to use with particular powders and how do you figure out the amounts of ba and bb to use when dissolving the powders in the homebrew? I know they have the calculator that will figure it out for you but i wanted to know the math behind figuring it out manually. Any information will be much appreciated.

For short esters i use 2% BA and 18%BB. For long esters I use 2%BA and 8%BB.

The math:
Say you want to make 100ml at 200mg/ml with 2%BA and 8%BB
2%BA = 100*.02 = 2ml
8%BB= 100*.08 = 8ml

Amount of powder= 100*200 = 20000mg = 20grams

powder volume= 20*.85(this is true for most powders) = 17ml

oil amount= 100-(17 + 2 + 8) = 73ml

hope this helps

i'm assuming the .85 is the weight of the powder in your equation right?

and my other question is how did you know to use 2% BA and 18% BB for your dissolving

yea .85 is the weight of the powder.

I knew to use the 2% and 18% through lots of research.

Most pharmaceutical grade steroids and other injectable stuff is made with 1.5%BA to keep sterile. So doing 2% I guess makes it safer since you wont be making steroids in a FDA sterile facility. You can go all the way up to 5% on the BA but the more you use the more it will hurt. The BB is not necessary for long esters but it does lessen the pain by keeping the steroid from crashing in the muscle - this is more true for short esters. So for BB you can go anywhere from 0%-20%, just find what works for you.

does weight of the ester play any role in determining any amounts of ba or bb to use.....and does anyone know if there is a chart that shows all the different esters and a specific amount or range of ba and bb to use

Yes the weight of the ester plays a role. Heavey ester=long ester. Light ester=short ester. For short esters you need to use more Benzyl Benzoate.

No there is no chart that shows specific esters and the amount of BB/BA to use. but trust me short esters 2%BA/18%BB and 2%BA/8%BB won't let you down with standard steroid concentration. If you are trying to make something like 400/ml test e(long ester) then I would go with 3-4%BA/15%BB.
